CHARLOTTE, N.C. — SignUpGenius, the leading online sign up service for event and volunteer management, was named a finalist in the NC Tech Awards for Software Company of the Year and Small Company of the Year.
"It's very gratifying to be recognized among so many great companies," CEO Dan Rutledge said. "Our mission at SignUpGenius is to empower users to change the world by making it simple to organize groups. We aim to fulfill that goal with a product that is simple, useful and intuitive and are excited to be recognized for that."
SignUpGenius helps businesses, schools, nonprofits and other groups coordinate events and people. Since moving to larger corporate headquarters in Charlotte last year, the company has doubled its staff to 24 employees and increased its revenue by 89 percent in 2015 compared to the year before.
"Since 1995, the NC Tech Awards have honored companies for outstanding achievement in the tech sector and use of technology. As a finalist in this year's awards, SignUpGenius has distinguished itself as one of the state's technology leaders," said NCTA President and CO Brooks Raiford.
A review committee comprised of nonprofit, media, education and technology leaders representing various regions of the state selected this year's finalists. The awards process culminates with the NC Tech Awards Gala on November 10 at the Raleigh Convention Center where hundreds of leaders from across the state will gather to celebrate the tech sector and honor the winners and finalists in each category.
SignUpGenius has been recognized with several honors this year for outstanding software, including recently being awarded Outstanding Computer Software Website from the WebAwards, its highest honor in the category.
Judges gave the site high marks for ease of use, interactivity, design and content.
