What to Prepare
All materials and music links are available for download on our website: www.herberthoovertheatre.com.  Students who attended the workshops were given paper copies of the audition materials and commitment packet. If you need additional copies they can be printed off our website. Students can also see Mrs. Groisser in room 145  or Ms. Jeffrey in room 218 to obtain the audition materials and Commitment Packet.

America the Beautiful

MONOLOGUE (pick one only)
Choice 1, 2 or 3

* Students may opt to prepare their own song to sing of their choosing. Please make sure you have 32 bars memorized and you must bring the accompaniment music with you to the audition. Your device will be connected to our speaker. No Flash drives or CDs allowed. A good example is an mp3 player, iphone or ipod with a headphone jack. No vocals are permitted on the recorded music. Students singing their own song should also be prepared to sing America the Beautiful if asked in case there are technical difficulties with your equipment.

Band Instrument players must also sing and present a monologue in addition to playing America the Beautiful on their instrument.

Variety Show: Please indicate your interest on the commitment packet information page. Variety show participants are selected from those students cast in the production Guys and Dolls Jr. Based on your initial song, monologue and movement audition you may be called back to participate in the variety show. While we will not be viewing variety show "acts" at auditions, if you are a singer, we welcome your selecting an audition song in the style and time period of the show instead of America the Beautiful. This is not mandatory. All other forms of entertainment, if selected, will be viewed at callbacks.

On Audition Day

-When you are told it is your turn, walk in confidently and tell us your first and last name and grade.
-We will ask to hear the song first. You may be asked to sing a few scales with the piano to test your vocal range.
