2019 Soph - Sr
Hello Summit Football supporters!
We are excited about the upcoming season and reconnecting with our football family! We have a few opportunities for which we need volunteers.
1. SACK LUNCHES (sack lunches for travel games - V and JV)
We have some LONG travel games again this fall Beaverton, Grants Pass, Newberg and Salem (Sprague) for varsity, and Grants Pass, Portland (Lincoln), Salem (Sprague) and Beaverton (Mountainside) for JV, and want to provide sack lunches for our players. One, this eliminates the need to stop at a fast food or convenience store (herding cats anyone?) which will enable the buses to get back at a more reasonable hour, and two, we all know some of our kids just don't have the option to pack or buy food. We want our kids to be and play at their best and this is one small way we can help that happen.
Remember to include something that travels well. Keep it simple so we have the best chance for everyone to get a similar lunch.
*TIMES LISTED ARE WHEN THE LUNCHES NEED TO BE ON THE BUS!
2. GAME DAY HALF TIME SNACKS (home and away games)
I talked to Kevin Boss about snacks for half-time for our players. His suggestions were a good balance of needed proteins/carbs that are easy to digest:
a. Uncrustables (white bread) - frozen section of your supermarket
b. Half a peanut butter/honey sandwich or peanut butter/banana sandwich on white bread
2. SUNDAY TEAM DINNERS (every Sunday before a game through October) - starting 9/8
For those of you new to the program, Sundays are film review and team dinners. We have some great Team Moms to help coordinate the menus and need volunteers to bring food and help serve the team. We have tried to divide up the food into manageable chunks. Dinner is at 3:15pm; please have food to the school no later than 3:00!
NOTE: Since we don't have a place to prep or clean up, please send disposable containers or have your player take them after dinner.
This will be coordinated in Google Docs again as SignUpGenius is cumbersome to set up with all the food. I know there are some access issues for Google Docs, so please bear with us. If you know another method, please contact me.
Here is a link to the sign up sheet.
3. COOKIES OR POPSICLES for practice (every two weeks would be more than enough and please sign up!)
You would not believe how excited kids (and coaches) can get about a popsicle or cookie break. Watermelon, rice krispie treats or other items are also welcome. Feel free to bring them to the end of practice one day or get a hold of me and I can help. This would be a nice treat for the boys.
4. CASH (always welcome!)
Let's be honest, sometimes you don't have time to make a meal or come to practice with treats. If donating some cash is an option and easier for you, we will use that money to pay for supplies or a special treat for the boys. We could also use the cash to offset costs for some local restaurants catering Sunday dinners at a discount.
If you would like to help with any of these items, please sign up (you do not need to set up an account or download an app). Reminders will be sent automatically and we will be available for any questions!
Thank you for all of your support for the team, coaches and the program as a whole!
