Arete Parent Volunteer Sign-Up
Arete Christian Academy is a homeschool cooperative, and the help of all our families is needed in order to provide the best possible educational experience. Parent volunteers provide another set of eyes on the campus and pitch in to help wherever needed.
The parent volunteer should report to the study hall room (Building B, Room B1) to check in and receive a Parent Volunteer badge. Then the volunteer will be stationed at a chair in the hallway of the Activity Center to monitor the bathroom and water fountain areas. The volunteer will also periodically walk around the buildings, especially following class changes, to ensure everyone made it to their classroom. Bring a book or laptop or other activity to do while monitoring the hallway.
IMPORTANT!!! Church staff will be going in and out the building throughout the day. If a person enters the Activity Center and they don't identify themselves as Arete, church staff, or as a church volunteer, please ask who they are. If they are not church staff or volunteer or with Arete please send the person to the chapel building office at the front of the property. Then text Tonya Layell (Church secretary and Arete Board Member) at 804.929.2370 so she can follow up with the person and alert the Arete board and Compass staff if needed. This doesn't happen often, but please keep this in mind to help keep everyone safe.
Families with one student at Arete are expected to volunteer for two time slots. Families with two or more children at Arete are expected to volunteer for three time slots during the academic year. There are two time slots in each day, and volunteers may choose to serve both time slots on the same day or serve during time slots on different days. The time slots are 9am-12:45pm and 12:45pm-4:30pm. Please review the available dates and sign-up as soon as possible.
