Durham’s Jewish community partners to provide and serve dinner for over 200 people on the fourth Sunday of each month at Urban Ministries’ Durham Community Kitchen.
Judea Reform, Beth El, Kol Haskalah and other Jewish Community Members need your help. During this pandemic, this mitzvah is more important than ever, but we need to adapt to do it safely. We need volunteers and donors to
- Sign up to make casserole(s) at home and bring to a meeting point at mid day the fourth Sunday of the month (April 26, May 24 and June 28) (see recipe HERE)
- Purchase and bag cookies at home to deliver to meeting point.
- Purchase other items (see sign up)
- Volunteer to prep meals at UMD (3 people per evening; staff will hand out meals to clients). This mitzvah is open to healthy people who are not at risk (please sign up close to the date so you can confirm you are healthy at the time!)
On the fourth Sundays of the month, drop off time and details for contactless delivery of all items into one of the two vehicles going to Urban Ministries will be sent to all who have signed up. Vehicles wll depart JRC promptly at the designated time. You may also contact Judy for possible alternate options.
