Welcome to Sign Up Genius for the LIFE Food Pantry at Shoppers Haven 541 Loveland Maderia Road. (Two doors down from the BMV).
*** Importantly, if you feel ill please delete yourself from the sign up or if you have reason to believe that you have been exposed to Covid please remove yourself from the sign up so as not to risk exposing those working on a shift.
Hours are Tuesday and Thursday evenings 4:00-6:30 p.m. and Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday mornings 10:00 a.m.-12 noon. The Lead will come in an hour before shift to open and receive any donations. All other volunteers are to come in 30 minutes prior to their shift. All shift volunteers are to remain 30 minutes after the last client is admitted into the shop for finishing up and cleaning.
The pantry is now serving clients of Loveland 45140 area as a "Choice Pantry". This means clients will be selecting their food choices from the shelves. A personal shopper will stay with clients, assisting them in making their selections. Each shift will have a Lead to manage the overseeing of the pantry and volunteers, and a computer volunteer who will handle checking in the client and collecting documentation as needed. The back room volunteers will handle the sorting of donations, bagging of some items for distribution and stocking floor shelves, refrigerator and freezer.
As in the past we welcome all adults to volunteer. All new volunteers are asked to sign up as a back room voluteer first to gain an understanding of how the pantry works prior to working with clients. Persoanl Shopper role can be trained by the lead or we also offer training sesions if we have a group to train together. You can not volunteer as a Lead or a Computer volunteer without working in the pantry for a while and gainng experience with the procedures in these roles. We appreciate and welcome all our new volunteers!
We will allow high school students to volunteer only as a backroom volunteer and they must be trained prior to volunteering. On the signup we have Tuesday afternoon training sessions. In some cases a high school student can be a personal shopper after volunteering over mutiple times. High school students can also volunteer to help with store donation pickups. Please check Signup Genius. Students can also help with food drives to gain community service hours either by organizing a drive or volunteering for a scheduled drive by assisting with sorting and shelving. Check the website or email us for information regarding upcoming food drives.
Thank you for volunteering and if you have questions, email Barb Wagner at [email protected] The pantry website, www.lifefoodpantry.org, is continually updated with the latest news of our pantry.
