Thank you for signing up to Volunteer at Red Hook Farms! Please remember that:
A new sign up sheet for the following month will be released two weeks before the first session of that month.
You must be 14 years or older to attend a farm session alone. 13 year olds may sign up for a session but should be signed up with an adult.
The slots are live, so please continue to check in if you didn't get a spot on your first try!
Farm Volunteering: You will work alongside our Youth Farmers and adult farm staff to cultivate a variety of organic vegetables on the 2.75 acre farm site. Tasks may include weeding, harvesting, planting, mulching, site maintenance, beautification and many other farm duties. The farm work often includes moving objects around the site and working close to ground for extended periods of time.
Compost Volunteering: This year we are expanding our overall compost efforts and working with the Red Hook Compost Project that operates on the south side of the farm. During your shift you will have the opportunity to work on each step of the composting process which include sifting new compost, aerating compost mounds with shovels and pitchforks as well as weeding the area, and participating in overall site maintenance. We are excited to work with this project that supports many green initiatives across our community!
These are just some components of typical activities you would get involved in during either shift, but there are many other farm duties you can get involved in during your time at Columbia Street Farm!
