Hurricane Florence brought historic levels of rain, high winds, storm surge and devastating conditions to the Carolina coast. As we hear stories of first responders and rescue teams, we remain grateful for those risking their lives to help others.
This storm feels deeply personal to our SignUpGenius employees in Charlotte as our families, friends and neighbors recount stories of evacuating coastal areas, encountering flooded roadways and waiting for rivers to crest. Our team is praying for those affected, and our hearts deeply ache for those who have lost loved ones.
We want to help any way we can, so we've chosen to donate through our SignUpGenius giving partner, Samaritan's Purse. The organization is on the ground in New Bern, Wilmington and Jacksonville providing supplies, care and chaplains to comfort those who grieve.
A donation can feel small during such a catastrophic event, but we want to do what we can to help with relief efforts. We also want to thank all of you who are stepping up to do whatever you can do to help.
We are inspired to see sign ups from volunteers in Raleigh caring for displaced pets, churches in New Bern organizing shifts for yard cleanup and food distribution, groups in Wilmington coordinating meals for weary first responders. Airdrop shifts are filling up in Morrisville as people sign up to load planes with supplies and serve meals to pilots, and families are using sign ups to open their homes to out-of-state emergency crew members.
We take our mission seriously at SignUpGenius: to empower people to change the world by making it simple to organize groups. In the midst of devastation, it is a privilege to join alongside those who are organizing hope.
