First Presbyterian Church in Nashville, Tennessee uses the power of reading to raise money supporting their Presbyterian Women's missions program.

Church members run a bookstore on Sundays where people can browse reading selections in between services. The bookstore sells fiction and nonfiction books, daily devotionals, Bibles, class study books and greeting cards.

The First Presbyterian bookstore has also recently partnered with nonprofit fair trade organization Ten Thousand Villages to sell gift items made by disadvantaged artisans from more than 35 countries.

With five volunteers each working a Sunday shift from 9:30 a.m. to noon, bookstore manager Kathy Gaston knew she needed a simple way to organize shifts.

"Before SignUpGenius, I would send an email to the volunteers and they would respond about their schedule," says Gaston. "Because of emails crossing each other and other conflicts, it took a long time to come up with a working schedule. With SignUpGenius, all I have to do it send out one schedule and volunteers can see which slots are open."

Gaston says she particularly likes how SignUpGenius sends out reminders to volunteers about their assigned shifts.

SignUpGenius is honored to empower the book geniuses at First Presbyterian Nashville and the world-changing missions that they support.

I am a huge fan of SignUpGenius. I am a second career nurse in northern Virginia at a large teaching hospital where I work on the labor unit with 120 fabulous coworkers. The nurses have to sign up for eight hours of "call" each schedule of four weeks. After two months of getting the staff prepared mentally for online call, I'm pleased to say our maiden voyage was a huge success. All 84 nurses signed up within 24 hours, which was unheard of. We usually have to stalk and threaten. Thanks SignUpGenius. I'm a fan forever.
