SignUpGenius lets you hide participant names and comments from everyone but you, the sign up creator. This is useful anytime you need confidentiality, whether that's interview slots, nonprofit aid recipients, or HR scheduling where privacy matters.

There are two separate settings depending on your sign up type, so it's worth knowing which one applies to you.

Hide Names on a Standard Sign Up

  • Set up your sign up as you normally would.
  • When you reach the Settings tab, click the Gear Icon next to the note that reads "Only name and comment are seen by participants."
  • Check the box for Hide names and comments from participant view.
  • Click the green Save button at the bottom of the page to save your changes.

As the creator, you'll still see full names and comments whenever you're logged in. Participants will simply see "Already Filled" once a slot is taken, or a count of filled slots out of the total available.

Genius Tip

This setting hides names from other participants, but you'll always see who signed up as the creator. If you need to fully restrict who can view the sign up at all, pair this with Enhanced Security instead.

Hide Attendee Responses on an RSVP Sign Up

The setting above works for standard sign ups, but RSVP-format sign ups use a separate toggle. If you're running an RSVP sign up and want to keep responses private, here's how:

  • On the Slots tab, find the option Allow everyone to see RSVP attendees.
  • Uncheck this option.
  • Click the green Save button at the bottom of the page to save your changes.

Once this is off, participants won't see who else has responded, only their own confirmation.

Need More Than Name Privacy?

Hiding names keeps participant identities private from each other. If you need to restrict who can view or access the sign up at all, Enhanced Security lets you require an account or set an access code.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I still see participant names if I hide them from everyone else?
Yes. As the sign up creator, you'll always see full names and comments when you're logged in. The setting only hides that information from other participants.

What do participants see instead of names when this is turned on?
They'll see "Already Filled" once a slot is taken, or a count of filled slots out of the total available, rather than who filled it.

Does the standard hide names setting work on RSVP sign ups?
No. RSVP sign ups use a separate setting. Uncheck Allow everyone to see RSVP attendees on the Slots tab to hide responses on that format.

Can I hide names and also restrict who can access the sign up?
Yes. Hiding names and Enhanced Security are separate settings and can be used together for sign ups that need both.
