Mother's Day Free Gift Ideas
10 Great Presents Mom Will Love
There’s no better holiday for free gift ideas than Mother’s Day. After all, the gift givers on this occasion are almost always strapped for cash if not plumb broke, right? And the gift receivers? Well, let’s just put it this way…you’re apt to consider even ten minutes to sit down and eat a meal a costly present when you’re sleep deprived, always leave the house carrying an extra 30 pounds of weight, and haven’t been to a mall by yourself since the term “clogged ducts” implied some type of household repair. Consider one or more of these free gifts for Mom this holiday and just see if it doesn’t make her tear up with joy.
1. The Gift of Sleep
An extra couple of hours of shut eye is a pearl of great prize to just about any weary momma. Tell her the night before Mother’s Day not to set an alarm clock, and lay the newspaper on the night stand in the morning before she awakes.
2. The Gift of Free Time
Give Mom part of Mother’s Day to spend anyway she likes, whether by herself or with a friend. She might choose to take a book to a coffee shop, get her nails done with her BFF, or head back to bed for a nap. Whatever she chooses, she’s bound to return a bit more refreshed.
3. The Gift of Service
This one might feel like a stretch since Mom’s the one who’s always serving everyone else, but give her the gift of a clean house, heck, even a clean bathroom and she may very well kiss the ground that you walk on. Especially if you’ve recently mopped it.
4. The Gift of Talent
Moms are schmucks for loosely organized talent shows. Why not make up a song about how adored she is and sing it while performing a choreographed dance? If you’re not into performing, even for a small crowd of one, you could always draw a picture of Mom surrounded by her loving family.
5. The Gift of Peace
Ever heard the saying, “Don’t give a gift you can’t afford”? Consider it when you commit to giving Mom a day of peace with no fighting from any of the siblings. If you’re in a phase where just the thought of not arguing with your sister for a day makes you want to yell at her, this might not be the best gift option for you. If you can follow through on it, though, Mom is certain to beg or barter for additional “peace” days.
6. The Gift of Quality Time
The older her kids are, the more Mom longs for the gift of time. If you’ve already left the house, your best bet for Mother’s Day is most likely a date with Mom to catch lunch, a movie or even a cup of tea. Even better, while you’re together, let her know how you’re doing, but take the time to find out what’s going on in her world, too.

7. The Gift of Words
You may assume that Mom already knows how wonderfully, amazing you think she is. She’s your mom after all, and moms know everything, right? Still, if you write it out in a poem or make a list of your favorite things about her, just watch and see if good ol’ Mom doesn’t blossom before your eyes.
8. The Gift of Food
Moms get tired of being responsible for rumbling hunger pangs that travel through the house every few hours. For her special day, tell her to do something restful while you cook up a meal. No burnt toast or cold cereal on this one, okay? Take the time to do up a meal fancy like, and you’ll be sure to impress.
9. The Gift of Memories
Moms often get so caught up in the busyness of being so many things to so many people that they don’t get a chance to reflect on how much they enjoy their role. To help her remember, bust out the home videos and family photo books and share favorite memories from years past. You may just find it’s as much fun for you as it is for her.
10. The Gift of Laughter
Are there any wannabe comedians in the family? Have each child memorize a handful of jokes to share with Mom over a meal. You can also pepper the conversation with shared memories of each family member’s most embarrassing moments or ask Mom to share some funny events from her childhood.

This is such a great tool! Evite is well-known and great, but if you need to coordinate responses as well as volunteers and potluck items... this is the thing!!! What an awesome service you are providing. I’m in the process of planning a potentially large open-house party to celebrate life with a very sick friend in our neighborhood.... Evite could in no way handle what I needed. I’m so grateful to find your service. After only a couple hours of the sign up going live, I was already so relieved I used it!
