Sharing the Love of the Game

For Louise Thomas, tennis has always been more than a sport — it’s been a source of health, friendship, and fun. That personal connection is what drives her work with the Tennis Alliance of Anne Arundel County, a nonprofit committed to bringing tennis (and its many benefits) to underserved communities.

“We use the sport of tennis to promote healthy eating and active living,” Louise says. “We provide free tennis lessons and rackets so that everyone can enjoy the sport of tennis for life.”

Louise’s mission is deeply rooted in gratitude. She’s experienced firsthand the lifelong joy tennis brings and believes everyone should have access to that same opportunity, regardless of their background or financial situation.

“I’ve received so much from the sport,” she shares. “And I think it’s important to share it with everybody.”

While the organization began as a passionate volunteer group, its vision continues to grow. Hiring an executive director was a key step in transitioning from a grassroots effort to a more sustainable nonprofit poised for long-term impact.
