The road out of homelessness requires a village.
In Salt Lake City, Utah, more than 15,000 volunteers each year volunteer with The Road Home — the largest provider of homeless services in Utah — to make the path out of homelessness a little easier.
The nonprofit operates two shelters and assists thousands of people each year. Organizers use SignUpGenius to coordinate activities such as donation drives and special projects, with as many as 15 active sign ups running at once.
"We have used SignUpGenius primarily as a tool for volunteers to sign up for activities such as playing with the kids in our playroom and volunteering to help with fundraisers and events," volunteer coordinator Alexa Black says.
Black says that using sign ups for donations has increased interest and eliminated the need for Word documents and Excel spreadsheets.
"It saves me time in having to type the information over and over again and lowers the possibility of human errors," she says.
The Road Home relies heavily on financial contributions, in-kind donations and volunteer time to operate efficiently and provide low-barrier shelter for men, women and families. Creating sign ups has saved them time and money.
"I definitely recommend SignUpGenius for anyone who plans events or other activities that require volunteers," Black says. "I would tell others to use SignUpGenius if they want to simplify their lives!"
SignUpGenius is honored to help The Road Home as it works to change the world, one person at a time.
