SignUpGenius to Donate $40,000 to North Carolina Nonprofits on Giving Tuesday

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — SignUpGenius will donate $40,000 to four nonprofit partner organizations — $10,000 each — to join the Giving Tuesday movement and encourage charitable giving during the holidays.

Representatives from the company's partner organizations plan to visit the SignUpGenius headquarters in Charlotte, N.C., on Tuesday, November 29 to mark the annual Giving Tuesday national event. The representatives will share their nonprofits' highlights from the past year with SignUpGenius employees and receive their $10,000 donation checks. The North Carolina-based charities provide crucial services to vulnerable and at-risk children in Charlotte and across the globe.

"We're thankful that as a growing company, we've been able to increase our donations to nonprofits every year," SignUpGenius COO and CMO Angel Rutledge said. "The SignUpGenius community of users are on the frontlines when it comes to changing the world through their group organizing events, and it's an important part of our company culture to support those efforts with our financial resources."

SignUpGenius is encouraging its users — more than 10 million a month — to spread the spirit of Giving Tuesday by pledging charitable donations on an online sign up.

The company will give more than $100,000 this year to charitable causes. Helping vulnerable and needy children is a particular point of emphasis through donations to four main partner organizations:

  • Samaritan's Purse, a Boone, N.C.-based nonprofit that provides international relief services to victims of war, poverty, natural disaster and disease. The nonprofit is also known for its Operation Christmas Child shoebox distribution.
  • Brookstone Schools in Charlotte, a growing K-8 private school that provides a Christian education for financially challenged families.
  • Christian Adoption Services in Matthews, N.C., a nonprofit that places domestic and foreign-born children with adoptive Christian families.
  • African Christians Fellowship International, a nonprofit that helps indigent and orphaned children in Liberia, West Africa.

SignUpGenius provides online sign ups for volunteer and event management. The company supports charitable causes that are important to its workers, matching employee donations to registered 501c3 nonprofits up to $500 per year per employee.

Just a note to say how much I love SignUpGenius. I'm coaching a team from Team-in-Training that is fundraising and training to ride 100 miles around Lake Tahoe to benefit The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. We have weekly training rides that need volunteer support and a need to get RSVPs from the cyclists so I know who will show up at team rides. Using SignUpGenius, I have ride support volunteers for almost all our rides through early May. This has been like pulling teeth in the past. It was so simple to set up and send out and easy for the volunteers to sign up.
