Here are 50 questions to help small group members get to know one another better. 

Tweens and Teens

Younger church members may be shyer or hesitant to chat with people they meet. Pick questions that are lighthearted and fun, but will still reveal a lot about the person answering.

  1. How many siblings do you have, and where are you in the birth order?
  2. What app do you use the most?
  3. What's your favorite subject in school?
  4. What pets do you have, and what are their names? Or if you don't have one, what would you want?
  5. What three items would you take with you to a deserted island?
  6. Who is your hero?
  7. If you won a million dollars in the lottery, how would you spend it?
  8. What's your favorite sport to play or watch?
  9. Which three words would your best friends use to describe you?
  10. If you had to pick one food to eat for the rest of your life, what would it be?

Young Adults

Hone in on favorite things for this group, who will be quick to connect on common goals, traditions and hobbies. Pop culture is always a safe bet for this perpetually connected age group. 

  1. What's your favorite band?
  2. Coffee or tea, and how do you take it?
  3. What's your favorite family tradition? (If your small group is meeting near a certain holiday like Christmas or season like summer, you could get more specific)
  4. What hobby would you like to start, if time and money were no issue?
  5. If you had to give up one of your five senses, which would you choose and why?
  6. What historical figure would you want to meet and talk with?
  7. If you could live anywhere in the world, where would it be?
  8. Who's your favorite athlete or sports team?
  9. Would you join a voyage to live on the moon? Why or why not?
  10. How would you survive a zombie apocalypse?
 
 

40- to 60-Year-Olds

The older generation is a wealth of knowledge and has interesting stories and advice to share. Help get them talking with icebreakers about their lives.

Would You Rather?

Good for any age, these questions will challenge your group to pick a side — and help you learn new info about your fellow group members. Make sure that people explain why they chose their answer! 

  1. Would you rather be able to fly in the air or breathe underwater?
  2. Would you rather give up showering for a month or give up the internet for a month?
  3. If you felt no negative effects either way, would you rather never have to work again or never have to sleep again?
  4. Would you rather be able to read humans' minds or understand what every animal was saying?
