From Classrooms to Communities, Real Stories of SignUpGenius in Action

“SignUpGenius is a great app to have in your toolbox!”

From one-on-one student meetings to homeschool co-ops and community food pantries, people everywhere are finding creative ways to simplify planning with SignUpGenius. These real-life stories show how the right tool can save time, reduce stress, and bring people together.

Connecting Students and Teachers at Ozarks Technical Community College

Donna Pritchard, an instructor at Ozarks Technical Community College, was searching for an easier way to schedule one-on-one student meetings for her online class. Instead of juggling endless back-and-forth emails, she turned to SignUpGenius.

Donna creates a sign up with her available dates and times, then emails the link to her students. Thanks to automatic email confirmations and reminders, very few students ever miss their slot. She explains, “Since using SignUpGenius for this assignment, I’ve only had one or two students out of 90+ miss their meeting. It helps me keep a balance in my daily work schedule, gives the students autonomy in balancing their busy work/home/school schedule, and is a win-win for all.”

Donna has become such a fan that she now encourages others, saying, “SignUpGenius is a great app to have in your toolbox!”

Bringing History to Life in a Homeschool Co-op

For Marcia Van Camp, a homeschool mom, planning group lessons used to feel overwhelming. When her co-op organized a history class inspired by the American Girl books, SignUpGenius quickly became essential.

Parents used the tool to sign up for presentations, bringing historically themed food, and coordinating field trips. “Having a place to sign up was essential to our success,” Marcia shared. “Our kids had an amazing year and all the parents were fantastic.”

The group is back this year to study geography, and Marcia says she is already planning “many, many more sign ups” to keep everything running smoothly.

Empowering Student Volunteers at Plainfield Area Interfaith Food Pantry

Barbara Seiden helps run the Plainfield Area Interfaith Food Pantry, a 501(c)(3) organization that distributes food to neighbors in need at two locations. With volunteer shifts to fill every Saturday, she turned to SignUpGenius to keep things organized.

By entering dates for the entire year and sharing the sign up with local National Honor Society advisors, Barbara ensures a steady flow of eager student volunteers. She explained, “We get high-quality student volunteers each week. As an added benefit, we’re able to limit the number of sign ups so that volunteers feel their time is well utilized. I can also easily communicate last-minute updates about weather or construction. Thank you so much for such a great product!”

A Simple Tool with Big Impact

From classrooms to co-ops to community service, these stories show how SignUpGenius helps people stay organized and focused on what really matters: learning, connecting, and serving together. Whether you’re planning one-on-one meetings, family activities, or volunteer shifts, SignUpGenius makes it easier to bring people together.
