How One PTA Simplified Volunteering for a National Convention

When the 2015 National PTA Convention and Expo came to North Carolina, the host chapter had a lot to coordinate.

With 1,500 PTA members arriving from across the country, the North Carolina PTA team needed volunteers everywhere, registration tables, meeting rooms, greeters, set-up crews and more. Every shift mattered. Every role kept the event moving.

And everything needed to be scheduled before doors opened.

Filling Shifts Without the Back-and-Forth

Nellie Taylor, office coordinator for North Carolina PTA, knew managing volunteers by email or spreadsheets would take hours she didn’t have.

Reporting That Made Event Prep Easier

With a Premium account, the North Carolina PTA team went beyond filling shifts. They pulled reports and exported data directly into Excel to generate nametags, create sign-in sheets and track volunteer hours by individual.

During the convention, SignUpGenius was also used to coordinate one-on-one coaching sessions with national thought leaders. Attendees signed up for time to discuss advocacy, membership growth and board management, all within the same system used to manage volunteers.
