SignUpGenius is hiring a Fraud Analyst to support fraud detection and prevention efforts and safeguard the integrity of our platform. This role is critical to maintaining a secure and trusted financial ecosystem for our users. The Fraud Analyst will work closely with the Fraud Operations team and cross-functional partners to monitor risk, investigate suspected fraud, and support ongoing improvements to fraud processes. This hands-on role includes real-time analysis, investigative work, and clear communication with internal teams, external partners, group organizers, and individual cardholders. The Fraud Analyst will focus on core fraud analysis responsibilities, build expertise, and contribute to continuous improvement across fraud operations. Responsibilities:
- Monitor and Investigate: Monitor transactions and user activity using tools provided by third-party service providers and internal scoring systems and dashboards to detect potential fraud or suspicious behavior. Investigate alerts and flagged transactions and accounts, including possible fraudulent accounts, account takeovers, payment fraud, and payment disputes.
- Conduct IDV/KYC: Assist in collector onboarding review and identity verification using approved IDV tools. Ensure compliance with SignUpGenius’ protocols.
- Document and Report: Maintain accurate records of fraud investigations, decisions, and outcomes. Maintain documentation, workflows, and standards to continuously update fraud detection and prevention activities.
- Collaborate and Communicate: Working with the fraud team and cross-functional teams, sharing insights and improving fraud detection and prevention logic. Promptly escalate high-risk cases or patterns.
- Support change initiatives and adapt quickly to a dynamic, evolving environment.
- Uphold company values, policies, and best practices in all work and interactions.
Requirements:
- 2+ years progressive experience in fraud detection and prevention, risk operations, banking, or payment risk or related role, with demonstrated success managing responsibilities of increasing scope and complexity.
- Strong analytical and investigative skills with an excellent understanding of online payment flow and common fraud indicators.
- Experience with and exposure to chargeback management and payment disputes.
- Experience with tools and service providers such as Stripe, Persona, Ekata, or similar payment processing and fraud/ID verification platforms.
- Experience with data tools such as Snowflake or other analytics dashboards is a plus. Excel proficiency expected.
- Experience working within structured operating frameworks or environments and supporting or guiding others in best practices.
- Solid understanding of online payment flow and common fraud indicators.
- Proficiency with industry-standard tools, platforms, or software commonly used in the function.
- Preferred experience in marketplace or SaaS environments.
- Proven ability to manage competing demands while maintaining high quality and attention to detail.
- Self-motivated, able to prioritize multiple projects and handle responsibilities without consistent oversight.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong time management, prioritization, and organizational skills.
- Collaborative team mindset with a proactive, flexible, and positive approach.
