SignUpGenius Collects Donations for Partner Nonprofit in Liberia
SignUpGenius is excited to support an upcoming mission trip to Liberia, West Africa, where a team will serve with one of our main giving partners, Liberia-based ministry African Christians Fellowship International (ACFI).
The team of 20 people, including four of us here at SignUpGenius, will serve with two mission boarding schools in Liberia. Focus areas include:
- Performing facility evaluations and maintenance
- Running sports outreach and VBS activities
- Conducting training for older students on leadership, finances and business
- Providing updates for the ACFI sponsorship program and helping students write letters to their sponsors
- Generally supporting and encouraging the ACFI team
In addition to serving, trip team members will bring checked bags full of donations for the schools. Our team has seen firsthand how online sign ups make it easy to coordinate initiatives like these, with family and friends contributing to a master donation sign up. Because of their donations, we'll be able to provide each student with a set of clothing, toiletries and a small toy, along with meeting some of the needs of the schools.
Trip team members gathered for a "packing party" two weeks before the trip to sort and distribute the donations and had a blast! With 40 checked bags at 50 pounds each, we packed up a (literal) ton of donation items, from medical supplies and sports equipment to toiletries and toys. Check out some highlights.
