Food for Thought
Food for Thought provides bags of food over the weekend to under-served youth right here in our area. In Arapahoe, Elbert, and Douglas Counties, there are more than 30,000 elementary children who are at risk of going hungry on the weekends.
Please sign up for a volunteer time-slot to serve at SECOR in our Food for Thought program. We will be packing food bags to be delivered to 19 partner schools in Douglas County Schools, Aurora Public Schools, Cherry Creek Schools, and Elizabeth School District. Volunteers must be over 8 years of age, with a responsible parent or ministry leader in attendance if under 16. The SECOR volunteer form must be filled out and presented to SECOR prior to volunteering. And as a reminder, volunteers in the SECOR warehouse must wear closed-toe shoes. NO FLIP-FLOPS!
We need 4-10 people (or 1 ministry) per week to assemble the bags. We will be packing approximately 700 bags of food per week. With 6 people it should take around two hours. Available time for individuals to sign up are Wednesday 9:00-3:00, or by appointment. When you sign up please put your requested time in the comments. If your group would request a special time slot, please contact Lisa Long directly at [email protected]
We also have availability for delivery to Boston Elementary weekly, and substitute drivers to our other schools on occasion.
