2020 Fall Fest Potential Volunteers
The Gate Keepers responsibilities are split into 3 categories, Artisan Setup, Monitor Open and Close of Fest, and Tear Down.
Artisan Setup: Gate Keepers stage the Artisans at each gate for entry into the fest and work with the Block Captains to coordinate Artisan entrance for setup. Artisan setup is split into 2 phases. The first phase takes place Friday afternoon / evening, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM, with about ½ of Artisans being let in. The second phase takes place Saturday morning, from 4:00 AM to 9:00 AM, where the second ½ of the Artisans are let in. This is a great experience for Fall Fest volunteers as you literally get to see the Fall Fest come to life.
Monitor Open and Close of Fest: Gate Keepers will monitor the gate for entry and exit Saturday evening from 5:30 PM to 7:00 PM, Sunday morning from 8:00 AM to 10:00 AM, Sunday evening from 5:30 PM to 7:00 PM and Monday morning from 8:00 AM to 10:00 AM. During these times Artisans may want to bring a vehicle into the fest to replenish merchandise stock or remove items. No Artisan gets through the gate unless a Gate Keeper lets him/her in.
Tear Down: The fest closes on Monday evening. As such, each Artisan will need to get into the fest after close to tear down their setup. Tear Down starts at 5:30 PM and ends at approximately 8:00 PM. Gate Keepers work closely with the Block Captains to coordinate which Artisans get in and when. They stage the vehicles and manage the flow of traffic. This is also a great opportunity to briefly talk with Artisans about the Fest and calm their nerves as they wait to get in.
This is a position for someone who has been given approval by the committee chair -- Matt Van Ordstrand.
