Gardening/Horticulture

In addition to our standing Gardening postions Monday thru Friday, we have other opportunities:

  • Maintain Incredible Edibles as a model demonstration garden. Daily jobs may include watering, weeding, planting, mulching, cleanup, and assisting with aquaponics. After arriving at SDBG for your shift, make your way to the Incredible Edibles Garden in Hamilton Children’s Garden where the education staff will meet you. Skills and Abilities

- Ability to listen to detailed instructions and work independently

- Ability to bend, lift, and carry out general gardening tasks- Previous experience g&

ardening welcomed, but not required

  • Conservatory Area Plant Care + Path Raking and + Watering Crew: 2 positions on Tuesdays, 9-noon. Weekly commitment same days/people. Trained by our Manager of Horticulture, John Clements, alongside a gardener in the Conservatory. This will entail some pest control of detailed spraying of plant material with streams of high pressure water or spot removal to control scale, mealybug, and other pests. You will get wet, but the pleasure of working in the conservatory is a rare opportunity. A part of our day will include watering outdoors and raking paths.
