Lake Norman Tennis Foundation Volunteers
Lake Norman Tennis Foundation, Abilities Tennis of North Carolina and Mooresville Parks and Recreation are partnering to provide tennis clinics for those with intellectual disabilities in the Lake Norman area this fall.
Abilities Tennis of North Carolina provides tennis programming for those with intellectual disabilities (ID). We need your help as a volunteer to bring Abilities Tennis clinics to Mooresville.
Please see the attached sign up to select days and times that will work with your schedule.
All volunteers are recommended to attend a training session where we will discuss in detail how to work with people with ID. We will go over a typical clinic, including ball and racquet drills. You will be participating in a mock clinic so come prepared to move on the court. Bring your racquet and water bottle. David Marquina, head Abilities Tennis coach and trainer, will lead you through this informative training.
Volunteers will also be required to have a background check through Special Olympics Lake Norman. The link for the background screen will be emailed to you along with instructions once you sign up.
Abilities Tennis is a statewide Community Tennis Association focused on bringing health, friendship, and community to individuals with intellectual disabilities through the sport of tennis. All clinics and programs are free of charge to the athletes, ages 8 and up.
