Bethlehem Emergency Sheltering
Our community needs us! This winter you can make a difference to your neighbors in need by helping out at Bethlehem Emergency Sheltering (BES)! BES is a faith-based partnership that provides a network for care and hospitality for the homeless in our community. From mid-November through mid-April, Grace Church Bethlehem will help provide guests with a warm bed, a hot shower, dinner, and breakfast on the first Saturday of every month. The shelter is located at Christ UCC church, on the corner of Center and Market streets in Historic Bethlehem. All volunteers will enter at the Walnut Street entrance of the church.
The shelter is projecting to house an average of 70 guests plus staff onsite with a capacity of 75. Guest census fluctuates. Current census can be found on bethlehememergencysheltering.org home page. There is a limit of 7 kitchen volunteers. Volunteers aged 16-18 must serve in the kitchen. All volunteers must be 16 and above. This endeavor takes a lot of hands to run smoothly. Please prayerfully consider if God is calling you to be his hands and feet right here in Bethlehem this winter.
All volunteers must be masked at all times while in the shelter. Filling out our volunteer log is mandatory due to COVID-19 precautions this season. The volunteer log will be located at the volunteer entrance on Walnut street.
