More New Features!

Summer’s almost over and we’ve just rolled out another set of new features! Planning your fall events just got even easier! Check out what we've just released!

Time Slot Creator
With our newly upgraded sign up creation wizard, you now create large time slot sign ups in a flash! Need to build a 24-hour prayer chain sign up with half-hour slots all day long? Are you creating a parent/teacher Time Slot Upgradeconference sign up with twenty-minute time slots for each parent? Maybe you’re planning a fall festival where volunteers sign up for 2-hour periods across multiple booths? Easy. Piece of cake. No problem. Enter your start time, end time and the length of your time slot… and our system will build all the time slots for you! Enormous time slot sign ups can be created in a matter of seconds. We think you’ll find lots of new ways to use our system with this great upgrade. Consider managing the reservations of your office conference room or sports facility using SignUpGenius – you can quickly build the time slots for the entire month and let people sign up!

Sign Up Slot Sorting
Slot sorting upgradeWe know that when you’re building a sign up, you want it to look absolutely perfect for your group members! That includes the specific display order of your sign up items on the page. We’ve made this even simpler for you by integrating drag-and-drop sorting of your sign up items into the sign up creation wizard! Now if you forget a sign up slot when you’re first entering them, you can enter it later and easily drag it into the exact position you want it on your sign up. Nice!

Advanced Layout Settings
Our standard sign up format has always shown dates first (in chronological order) followed by your sign up slots. However, some sign up creators have asked to be able flip the format and display their sign up grouped by the slots first. We’ve listened and are pleased to announce that you can now choose which sign up format works best for you! The new slot-first format is perfect, for example, for a fall festival where you want to list all your booths in order first, and then the dates/times that people can sign up for each booth. Use this slot-first format in combination with the new time slot features to create a massive parent/teacher conference sign up for an entire school in just a matter of minutes. Once you see how flexible this layout change is for some of your sign ups, you’ll wonder how you ever lived without it!

Bulk Import of Sign Up Slots
We know that large organizations often manage sign ups on our site that contain dozens or hundreds of sign up items. Entering those items one by one into our system can be tedious and frustrating, especially for those that already have their list of sign up itemsBulk Import Upgrade in some electronic format. Now there’s an easier way. With our new bulk import feature, sign up creators can easily import hundreds of sign up slots in one quick step. When you’re building your sign up, grab your list of sign up slots from Excel or Word and cut/paste them into our import box – our system will create all the slots in one simple step. Now you can create an enormous auction sign up or donation sign up in minutes! Give it a try!

Multi-Edit and Multi-Delete
We think managing an existing sign up should be as easy as building it. And we’re always looking for ways to make it faster and simpler to save you more time! Our latest upgrade includes the ability to edit and Multi-edit upgradedelete multiple slots or dates in one step. It sounds like a small change, but wait until you see how much time you’ll save! Need to change the name of the event location across 25 dates on your sign up? Now it’s easy… select all the dates and you can update the location for all those dates in one step without updating anything else! Want to delete all 250 sign up items you entered and start over? No problem… select all the sign up slots and delete in one quick step. We know this little upgrade won’t win a Nobel Peace Prize or anything, but we are confident that frequent sign up creators will find it a huge help!

And… we’re just getting started.
Think these upgrades are great? Don’t tell anyone, but we’ve got some even bigger upgrades still coming that are going to revolutionize your fall signups! Keep watching our blog in the next month for the big news…

Hi Hunter Elementary - we'd be happy to help. Please write us via the "help" tab at the top of this page and we can make sure any issue is resolved for you. We monitor help tickets even on nights and weekends, so that is the fastest way to interact with us on support issues and to look up your specific account. We look forward to hearing from you!

Once our signup went live, we haven't been able to utilize the Slot Sorting feature. It was AWESOME to be able to do that during the initial setup, but now we've got some 'stragglers' at the bottom of our signup that we can't get into their rightful place. Is it possible to make it so that late additions can be sorted into the main body of the signup?

Another vote for a calendar view!

Yes- calendar view would be wonderful!

May I second Jenny's request? I just want you to know that the calendar view is valuable and wanted. Thanks!

Thanks for the kind words, Jenny! So glad we can help. The calendar view is something on our development list, for sure. We've got some more great features coming out soon and are always working to add and improve, so thanks for letting us know what is most important to you! It's valuable so we can prioritize our development. Thanks again for writing in!

As a Kindergarten room mom, I absolutely LOVE using your site and am trying to get die-hard VolunteerSpot users at our school to convert to your website. The one thing that people say is keeping them from switching is the lack of a calendar view option (as opposed to a list). Your website is superior in many ways, including being much faster, but if you could add the calendar-view option, I think that you could have many more people switching to your site.

Hello. I have emails in my group that do not have names associated with them. How can I add the names to the group? The only option I see is to delete the names from the list and when I enter new emails in the box separated by commas, I don't have the ability to add new emails with names associated. Has anyone had similar issues? Thanks.

What I would love is seeing it in a calendar view, and then you can put the calendar on your own website. You can still have your ads, and your name, it would just be so much easier on the volunteers to not have to see the sign up slots in a list form. Then they can pick the day that they volunteer, put their name, and swap easily!

Love the time slot features. They have been SUPER helpful. Can't wait until you allow a different email address per signup to receive notifications when people sign up!!!

Hi Karen. I'm not sure I'm clear on the exacts of what you're wanting. If you can write us via the "help" tab at the top right of this page, we can discuss in more detail. You can link out to documents from your sign up and you can restrict the sign up with a password as well. You could load the Excel document to a Google Docs page, for example, and link to it from your main sign up page. Contact us outside the blog and we'd be happy to discuss further!

I am very new to your program and haven't set anything up yet. I was wondering of the capability to link with their signon password to, for example, an Excel sheet that would show the funds that volunteers have allocated to their "individual" accounts within our group total. Some fundraising events go strictly to the group as a whole, and some get allocated just to those who worked or helped with the event toward their expenses during the year. If not available, can you suggest any other programs with this capability?

Hi Rene - yes, we are in the processing of preparing a release that will allow you to ask custom questions when people sign up. Look for it soon! Debbie - there are a couple solutions that we can help you with, but it's a little hard to interact via the blog. If you can contact our support team via the help tab at the top right of this page, we can help you get setup. Thanks!

We want our PTA website to have a link to teachers' "wish lists - that teachers can update all year. Parents can access and sign up as necessary. What is the best way to do this? Each teacher would have their own list - but our site would have one link to Sign Up Genius.

Can you create a field for driving (as in "are you willing to drive to this event?" and if so, how many girl scouts can you accomodate. That would be a huge help to a lot of youth groups.

Thanks for writing and great question. Without spilling the beans too much... the answer is that functionality of asking custom questions of your members is coming very soon. In the meantime, you can use the "comment" field that is associated with each sign up to handle some miscellaneous information. People currently use that to collect T-shirt sizes. While we can't release an exact date for our next upgrade set, look for a more complete solution for custom fields to come within about a month.

I love sign up genius but I am looking to GATHER info from my groups needing tee-shirt sizes for 90 people. Is there a way to have an open comment line so I can have them input their information>>>

Posted by Dan Rutledge on Tue Aug 21, 2012 9:07 AM EST
Thanks for the comments.

Len - I think I may have mentioned this, but the change in membership options will be coming early this fall. The wait-list feature is a little lower on the development list, so we appreciate your patience on that one.

James - I don't think we'll be able to give Admin's password capability for other users, just for security reasons. But we may need to look at other ways to reset your password. Reset emails are becoming increasingly less reliable with the aggressive spam filtering from email providers. Thanks for mentioning this. Also, you should be able to enter a 4:15am end time... even though it will not clearly show that it is the next day at the end time. The date/time will just show as something like "11/15/2012 8:45pm - 4:15am." If you have problems getting that setup, contact our support as we can try to help get that in there.

Thanks again for the comments!

Hello, I must admit, I love signupgenius, think it's the best thing ever. I use it for posting overtime. If they have not already been requested would like to ask for the following 2 (two) items to be added to a future upgrade if at all possible:

1: Administrator ability to reset or create temporary password for user (several of our users were not able to log in for overtime and the links to reset never showed, possibly due to e-mail issues we have been having.)

2: Ability to schedule an item past midnight into the next day. For instance we had an overtime shift from 8:45PM to 4:15AM, I had to break it up to get it into the system.

Thanks for listening to my ramblings.

These new features are most welcome. Thank you.

I've been hoping for this one that Carrie is recommending too.

Also could really use a waiting list capability, as well as requiring both a password AND mandatory email addresses at the same time.

Posted by Dan Rutledge on Sat Aug 18, 2012 7:27 PM EST
Thanks Carrie. That one is high on our priority list and should be coming sometime this fall. Thanks for your patience!

Posted by Carrie White on Sat Aug 18, 2012 3:27 PM EST
These are great, but when will you have the ability to close out signups without having to delete the signup?

Posted by Alesha Doherty on Thu Aug 16, 2012 5:03 PM EST
THANK YOU! You have a very valuable tool and I appreciate that you are continually making improvements!
