The St. Vincent de Paul Distribution Center is the hub where all donated goods are collected to be either given away to those in need or sold in our Mission 27 Resale Store. Dock Helper volunteers are needed to:
- Receive donated items and issue receipts if requested
- Assist clients with furniture and appliances and help load them into the client's vehicle
- Unload incoming trucks (afternoon shift)
- Maneuver furniture and appliances with the assistance of a two-wheel hand truck or dolly
The Distribution Center is located at 1201 E. Maryland Street and there is parking on the street. You can come in through the Volunteer Entrance and sign in. Once inside, ask for Jeff Blackwell or Kathy Williams who will get you started for the day. Dress comfortably and in layers and note that open toe shoes are not permitted for safety reasons. Please note there are signups for 1 volunteer on Wednesday morning and for 2 volunteers in the morning and 2 in the afternoon on Saturdays.
We provide gloves, hand sanitizing stations and exercise social distancing wherever possible. Masks are mandatory so please bring one with you. If you do not have a mask, one will be provided for you.
We understand that life happens. If you have signed up and find you can't make it after all, please delete your signup so someone else can take advantage of your available slot.
