Food Pantry Volunteers 2022

Food Distribution

At this time, we can only have up to 7 volunteers at a time serving in the pantry. Please DO NOT bring additional people with you to volunteer unless they are signed up. Additionally, all volunteers are required to wear closed toed shoes onsite.

Please do not volunteer if you or someone with whom you have been sharing space are experiencing the following symptoms: fever or chills, cough, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, fatigue, muscle or body aches, headache, new loss of taste or smell, sore throat, congestion or runny nose, nausea or vomiting, diarrhea.

We have added alternate volunteer slots to our sign up in case a volunteer is not able to make it. If you are signed up as an alternate, you may be informed of our need as late as morning of. 

All volunteers must be at least 11 years of age. All volunteers 11-15 years of age need to be signed up with a chaperone. 

All volunteer positions are subject to change based on the needs of the pantry that day.

Friday volunteers will be dedicated to receiving and processing donations, as well as receiving Foodbank orders.  This will not be a client focused opportunity. 


Schedule: Volunteers should arrive at 9:30am and will be done by 12:30pm.

Location: McIver Hall (on the campus of Druid Hills Presbyterian Church). Please use the St. Charles Pl. entrance. See picture below

Before coming to volunteer, please review the Atlanta Community Food Bank Food Safety Training. This is required before volunteering.


Updated masking policy at Intown.

Intown has updated its COVID policies related to mask-wearing. These policies are subject to further revision, especially as the Omicron BA.2 continues to spread in the U.S.
Masks during Volunteering
Masks will be recommended but no longer be required in McIver Hall and immediate surroundings. Public spaces within Druid Hills Presbyterian Church, e.g. bathrooms, breakroom, hallways, will follow DHPC’s COVID policies, which currently mandates masks to be worn. 


The health and safety of you, our clients, and our staff is our top priority.  Because we work with an extremely vulnerable population, Intown continues to follow CDC guidance set forth for health care professionals.  Considering the surge of COVID-19 cases due to the Omicron variant and updated guidance from the CDC Intown is now following the below volunteer work restrictions if you have been infected with or exposed to COVID-19:

If you test positive for COVID-19 or are exposed to COVID-19 and develop symptoms
Regardless of your vaccination status, you may not volunteer with Intown for 10 days since the onset of symptoms or, if you do not have symptoms, your positive test.  If you do not have symptoms, or if your symptoms were mild and are improving, get a test on day 7.  If that test is negative, you can return to volunteering.  

If you are exposed to COVID-19 and have no symptoms
If you have received your vaccine booster: you can continue to volunteer as normal.  Get tested 2 days after your exposure and 5-7 days after exposure.  If those tests come back positive, see the above paragraph on protocols for testing positive.

If you are vaccinated, unvaccinated, or previously had COVID-19: please do not volunteer for 10 days from the date of exposure.  Get tested 7 days after your exposure.  If that test comes back negative, you can return to volunteering.  If that test comes back positive, see the paragraph on protocols for testing positive.
