Rose & Shamrock Festival Volunteers

Volunteers

VOLUNTEER REQUIREMENTS:

Stop by the volunteer room, on the 3rd floor (the Bridal Parlor), FRIDAY, February 14, 2020, between 2-8pm, to pick up your t-shirt, food voucher and learn about your volunteer position.  If you can not make it during this time, stop by BEFORE your scheduled shift is to begin. 

ALL volunteers MUST be 13 years old or above.

Volunteers will receive a t-shirt and $10 food voucher. 

*Please note that the volunteer lounge is for volunteers only - no "camping" with spouses and children is allowed.

VOLUNTEER POSITION DESCRIPTIONS:

RUNNERS

This position can be anyone. You do not need to be familiar with dance

Take judges score envelopes from stages to tabulation room.

GRADE AWARDS:

Work at a computer.

Look up dancers numbers and hand out awards

CHAMP AREA:

Organize awards to be given out.

Announce awards.

Post award ceremony times on Twitter and poster board.

Take pictures and post to Facebook and Twitter.

Handle paperwork for perpetual trophies.

DANCER REGISTRATION TABLE:

Friday Night shift MUST arrive by 3pm!

Saturday Morning shift MUST arrive by 7am!

Find dancers' names and give out number cards.

Answer questions or be able to find someone with the answer.

INFORMATION TABLE:

General Festival Information

Answer questions, give directions, etc.

TABULATION:

Type dancers scores into computer.

Post results on grades wall, and take results to champ award area, as they become available.

STAGE HANDS:

* Please note:  This position is responsible for time management and efficient running of the stage. Experience running a stage or attending many competitions would be VERY helpful for this position!*

Check in each dancer as they arrive side-stage.

Line dancers up in appropriate order to dance (must not have 2 dancers from same school on stage at the same time).

Take care of flip chart showing current dance and next dance numbers.

Communicate with judges and musicians.

MERCHANDISE TABLE:

Sell merchandise for the bands.

Sell wristbands for the evening Headlining band concert.

FIRST AID / ATHLETIC TRAINER:

Expected to stay at the first aid table unless called to an emergency.  First aid supplies will be provided.  

SECURITY:

Overnight, Friday night - patrol main hallways (vendor tables, award tables, information area, etc).

Friday and Saturday - stay at security/information/first aid table or patrol the festival area. 

Security volunteers will be given a special t-shirt indicating your roll.

MUSIC COMPETITION DOORMAN:

Sit outside the door to the music competition to make sure that no one enters or exits the room while any competitor is playing their piece.  This is to help cut down on distractions for the competitors. You may allow people to enter and exit at other times.

* Please Note:  This position will be held at Tellus 360, in their basement room As Sabin.  (Tellus 360 is an Irish pub & music venue next door to the Marriott) *

HOSPITALITY:

Assist hospitality director, prepare and deliver beverages and snacks to feis judges and musicians.

FESTIVAL SET UP:

Help unload, transport and set us stages, tables, banners and signs. *This position will require heavy lifting.*

FESTIVAL TEAR DOWN:

This position is for Sunday morning, after the festival.  Help take down and transport signs, banners, tables and stages.  Load them into vehicles.  *This position will require heavy lifting.*
