MKMH - Monday Night Meal

Thank you for volunteering to provide a meal for our community neighbors. 

Each organization/group is responsible for bringing food (main dish, sides and dessert) to feed about 80 people PLUS however many people you will be bringing.  Some organizations prepare casseroles or other dishes themselves, others choose to purchase chicken or other main dishes.  We will provide drinks for the meal.  If your meal requires condiments, please check with us to see if we have them on hand before purchasing more.

St. Paul volunteers will be in the Fellowship Hall kitchen about 4:45 p.m. to lead the meal service and clean up procedures.  You may be asked to help set tables with place mats, table grace, or salt and pepper shakers.  If your organization wishes to bring table decorations, you are more than welcome to do so!  We usually set up about 8-10 tables.

Three or four of your volunteers are encouraged to join in the set up process beginning about 5:00 p.m.  There aren’t too many things to do so sending more than three or four people early is not necessary unless you have food preparation you need to do.

Occasionally other organizations or individuals will donate additional food to serve to our guests.  Therefore, there is a possibility that food will be added to your menu in order to avoid wasting that which has been donated.

Between 5:00–6:00 p.m., the tables are set, drinks will be made and final food preparations are made.  At about 5:55 p.m. the food will be placed on the serving tables and drinks will be served to our guests.  Dinner is served buffet style with the guests coming forward to fill their own plates.  Foods that could be picked up with fingers (such as bread, chicken, etc.) should be served by volunteers in order to maintain sanitary conditions.

Desserts will be cut prior to serving.  We refrain from putting out plates and silverware until after guests have gone through the serving line.  At that time, please supply one or two people (with gloves on) to serve the desserts for our guests.  This will eliminate any fingers on the desserts.

While the guests are making their way through the serving line, please watch to see if anyone needs help with their tray and carry it to the table for them.  You may also check if anyone needs refills on their drinks at this time.

After all guests have been served, you may enjoy the meal yourselves.  We ask that you please spread out around the room and enjoy fellowship and conversation with our guests.  After you finish eating, please return to the kitchen area to help dish leftover food to send home with our guests.

There will also be plenty of dishes to wash and tables to wipe down.  Your help is appreciated with those tasks as well.

Again, thank for all you are doing to help our community!  We truly appreciate your service!  Without the help of the many generous groups of people who help out, this ministry would not be able to grow and flourish!  You are a real blessing!
