Coastal Music Park @ Walnut Creek - 2019 Season

Sign up as a Volunteer this season at the Coastal Credit Union Music Park Concession stand.  Get to know other band parents and earn money for your student’s band account.

Pay Structure


Black Pants or Shorts (No Jeans/leggings or athletic wear/shorts)

Athletic Shoes/Tennis Shoes (No Sandals/must be closed toe shoes)

Live Nation shirt - to be provided upon check-in

Responsibilities include:

  • count beginning and ending inventories
  • operate cash registers
  • serve beer/wine/water
  • prep and serve
  • clean the stand

The work can be physically demanding during the hottest part of the summer (July/Aug) and you are on your feet the entire duration. There is one 15 minute break - these breaks are organized by the stand leader and may never occur during an intermission. During your break a complimentary hot dog, pretzel or nachos will be provided. You may also bring a reusable cup or bottle - it will need a lid and/or straw or re-sealable and must be stored out of the view of customers. You may fill your cup with the fountain drinks throughout the evening (soda). Health code rules - absolutely NO eating in the stand; all staff drink cups must be stored out of the way or under the counter; no bare hands touch ready to serve foods (use tongs, gloves or paper provided). Someone will show you how to do all the tasks involved once you are on site in the stand.

Stand Leader Responsibilities:

  • represent Apex Band Boosters while at the venue and interact with Legends Supervisors
  • stocking of the stand during the show
  • lead close out activities such as reconciling the cash, sales and inventory at the end of the night (all participate)
  • Stand Leaders MUST have experience operating the stand, if you are unsure of how to operate the stand please sign up for the "Worker/Cashier" volunteer slot

We need stand leaders to continue for 2019 season, if you are willing to learn, please contact Karen Hyre, 2019 Coastal Credit Union Music Park Concession Leader, for training.  

Please Note: NEW for 2019 Stand Leaders WILL now receive additional compensation.  It is required that you work several shows before signing up to work as Stand Leader. Stand Leaders must arrive 90 minutes prior to gates opening and on time the day of their scheduled show.

IMPORTANT: Anyone confirmed to work an event MUST show up to work as scheduled. If you find you cannot work a date that you signed up for YOU are responsible for finding  another parent to cover your shift (use the SWAP option to ask another parent to swap with you) BEFORE THE GATE LIST is sent in. If you must do this after the gate list is submitted, please contact Karen Hyre so the gate list can be updated otherwise whoever takes your place may not be able to gain entry. Gate lists are submitted atleast 48 hours before the event so please plan to work the shows in which you commit. Under no circumstances should ANYONE contact Legends directly. Concession Chair, Karen Hyre, will communicate any changes to the gate list with Legends.

An email will go out prior to each show to those working. It will include the specified time you must be in the stand for that event - please be on time and take into account traffic as call times are typically during evening rush hour. In general, Cashier/Workers are requested to arrive one hour before gates open till about 11pm.  

REQUIRED TRAINING - Legends Hospitality is the vendor at the Coastal Credit Union Music Park and requires alcohol training (T.E.A.M.). Everyone signing up to work is required to sign up for a training session if you are not currently certified or if your training has expired.  GOOD NEWS!  The training is valid for three (3) years. 

Alcohol server training (T.E.A.M.) is offered by Legends on select dates in the beginning of the season.  These dates vary (see sign up below for the initial training dates). Additional dates will be added as we get nearer to the season start.

In addition to Alcohol training Orientation is also provided and required for all Volunteers, even if they have already been T.E.A.M trained. If you are unable to make Orientation, please contact Karen Hyre.

PNC Arena and Coastal Credit Union Music Park are two entirely different fundraising programs and companies. They do not accept each other’s training programs. So PNC ARENA/VAB Catering alcohol training is NOT accepted at Coastal Credit Union Music Park/Legends and vice versa.  T.I.P.S. and B.A.R.S. Training is not accepted! No other form of alcohol training is accepted.  You must attend the training session with Legends.

Once all of the positions are filled for a particular date, you may sign up as an extra if you are interested in working and if extras are needed for that event you will be notified.  Gate lists are confirmed and submitted 3-4 days before the event - you will be notified by email if you are working.  Anyone not on the gate list will not be permitted to enter.  

Carpooling to the venue is encouraged.
