Council Spaghetti Dinner

We had to cut our Lenten Fish Fries short this year and we've also suspended most of our Council's other fundraising acitivities.  However, even during this time of continued pandemic, we've decided to "very carefully" get back into the business of offering home-cooked K of C meals.  Hopefully these will serve to re-energize our Council and give our members, their families and our local parishioners and residents an occasional opportunity to avoid cooking at home or ordering that "same old" pizza.

On several Thursdays this Fall, Father Baumgartner will be offering carryout Spaghetti Dinners to one and all, promoted throughout our parishes in a manner similar to what we do for Fish Fries.  On the evenings of Sep 17, Oct 1, Oct 22, Nov 3, Nov 19 and Dec 10 we'll be preparing and handing out these made-to-order spaghetti dinners to our guests.  Each meal will consist of pasta with either meat or meatless sauce, a greenbean vegetable, garlic bread, salad and a dessert.  Unfortunately, due to the virus, there will be no dine-in option.  We'll be preparing and packaging the meals at St. John Fisher Church, where our guests will pick up their dinners.  The meals will be priced at $10 per adult, $5 for children 12 and under and $7 for Oakland University students showing an ID.  We wanted to make all our Council members aware of these upcoming events and to solicit your assistance.  As you can guess, we'll need several Council members to help prepare the meals, take call-in orders, package and hand out the carryouts, and clean up afterward.  With your assistance, we'll all focus on doing this in the safest way possible for our volunteers and our guests.

So if you think you and/or members of your family could help us out for a few hours on one or more of these dates, please sign up below and mark your calendars.  We'll be providing masks if you don't have one, and we'll try our darnedest to keep some proper distance between our workers.  And remember, volunteers eat for free.

Even if you're still a little concerned about volunteering during these tough times (we can certainly understand that), please at least consider ordering a spaghetti carryout and "supporting the cause."  And since it's more difficult to get the word out when folks aren't interacting as much, please help us spread the news about these events to others you see or talk to.

Orders can be placed by calling or texting to 248-296-2853 between 4:30 and 6:30, providing your name, number of adult and child meals you'll need and indicating meat or meatless sauce.  We'll inform of you what time your order will be ready for pickup.  Then simply drive over to St. John Fisher (the front door) and we'll run your order out to your vehicle, take payment and offer our thanks.  We'll be accepting cash, credit cards and checks.
