ICARE is a new program of the Interfaith Council of Contra Costa County (I4C) that creates opportunities for people of diverse religions, spiritual expressions and indigenous traditions to work together to improve the lives of people in our county who are in need. By linking volunteers with projects across the county, we work together to provide resources such as food, shelter, supplies and other forms of support for people in our community. We do this by partnering with selected, local nonprofit organizations (see below the video).
Before volunteering, you’re encouraged to attend our online orientation workshop below. *************************************************************************
Please look at the tabs on this site to see the upcoming project needs we have. We can only open up these projects when we have two congregations who’ve committed to cosponsoring a project. Generally, Co-Sponsors will be asked to:
1. Recruit volunteers from their congregations (assisted by the Interfaith Council)
2. Coordinate the logistics of the project including working with their project's nonprofit partner
3. Perhaps donate the use of their parking lots for assembly, if relevant
4. Arrange any deliveries of donations to the nonprofit partner’s locations
The Interfaith Council will subsidize the costs of projects with money we receive from grants and individual donations. Donate to ICCCC Here
Congregational cosponsors have options for funding these projects, including:
1. Sharing the cost with their cosponsor who will fund raise or raise awareness within their congregations to solicit volunteers and money.
2. Receiving donations from the interfaith community through a donate button that will be placed on their Sign Up Genius project site. The donate button will link to one of the congregations and you can determine how to split the donations.
3. Receiving a subsidy from ICARE, depending on donations and grants we receive that have been targeted for ICARE projects.
This will be one of the first orders of business that you can cover at your initial planning meeting.
