2020 Walk MS: Lexington

Walk MS is a charity walk series that take place in over 550 locations with more than 330,000 people participating annually. We've been walking since 1988 and to date have raised more than $920 million to drive groundbreaking research, provide life-changing programs and guarantee a supportive community for those who need it most.

Together, we become a powerful force. 

Groups and individuals of all ages and abilities are encouraged and invited to volunteer.

Set Up (10)

Activities include:  Unloading and distributing supplies, setting up tents, tables, and chairs,  hanging banners and signage, decorating tents and tables (heavy lifting required 50lbs)

Route Support

Activities Include: Providing support to participants, often this task is completed in collaboration with a staff or committee member utilizing a golf cart.

8:00am - 12:00pm  

Volunteer Check-In

Activities Include: Checking in volunteers, ensuring paperwork is turned in and volunteers receive a t-shirt and instructions for their volunteer shift. (During downtime please float to cheering section.)

Registration (6)

Activities include: Greeting and checking-in walk participants, collecting pledge envelopes and donations, providing general event information. (additional training may be required) (Background check required for volunteers handling donations).

T-Shirts (2)

Activities include: Organizing supplies and shirts by size and type, handing out shirts to qualifying participants, keeping area tidy, providing excellent customer service.

Greeters (2)

Activities include: Welcoming participants and directing them to the appropriate areas at the event site, answering questions as needed, ensuring registration lines are moving quickly.

Mission Area (2)

Activities Include: Setting up/breaking down area with appropriate supplies, managing the mission area during the event which may include distributing Society materials, speaking to constituents about MS Society. Knowledge about the society preferred.

First Aid (2)

Activities Include: First Aid volunteers consists of certified medical professionals who administer First-Aid to event participants.

Activities Include: Utilizing personal photography equipment to capture event experience. Photographer captures team photos, start and finish line photos, route photos, and festival area photos. It is expected to share full rights to digital media.

Activities Include: Setting up/taking down the site, running hydration/fruit stations, serving food and beverages to participants, providing excellent customer service. (Occasional lifting may be required)

The Green Team (3)

Activities Include: Empty trash cans and recycling receptacles throughout the event - Qualifications: Some lifting and willingness to get a little sticky.


Food Service (3)

Activities include: Setting up and orgainzing food service area, handing out food to participants, cleaning up area and putting away supplies. *Basic and safe food preparation and handling is required and volunteers will be provided hand washing station.

9:45am - 12:00pm  

Cheering (10)

Activities include:  Standing at the finish line to cheer on participants, using noise makers, handing out medals/momentos, often these volunteers are asked to bring encouraging signs or cheering swag from home to the event.

Activities include: Cleaning up the event site, taking down decorations, signage and banners, breaking down tents, tables, and chairs, organizing and loading  supplies (heavy lifting required ?50lbs)
