Hyde Park School of Dance Volunteers
Welcome to HPSD's Nutcracker Costume Assistance Volunteer Sign-up.
We need your help to bring our costumes to life!
For the 2019 production, we are currently seeking volunteer stitchers and fitters. Both individuals who can operate sewing machines are needed in addition to folks who are familiar with hand sewing. Fitters play an important role in helpding the HPSD wardrobe staff. Fitters do not need to sew. As a Fitter you will learn about the costume for a specific dance. You will help children dress and check that costumes are on correctly. Fitters should attend the cotume fitting, dress rehearsal, and at least one performance as a backstage chaperone.
In addition to the current need for stitchers (sewers), there may be additional shifts added for volunteers interested in craft-type construction projects that may involve using a hot glue gun, using spray paint on fabric, creating headpieces, etc. We may also need assistance in costume repairs, ironing, and washing prior to the performance. Additional shifts will be added as they become available.
Please read the details below regarding the specific shifts currently available for this volunteer position. Upon signing up, you will also be asked to complete a brief questionnaire outlining your sewing and costume creation experience so our Costume Team can plan accordingly. In addition to the shift selected below, our Costume Team may reach out to volunteers regarding other projects and shift opportunities as they arise.
Interested in other volunteer areas as well? There are a wide range of volunteer jobs available and one of which is sure to match your talents. If you sign-up to volunteer after Wednesday, December 4th you will not be included in the Nutcracker program. Click on the tabs at the top of this page to navigate to our other 2019 Nutcracker volunteer options.
Thank you in advance for your generosity and support! We are very grateful to our volunteer corps!
