Volunteers for 2019 Show House
The Dayton Philharmonic Volunteer Association (DPVA) is hard at work transforming Leland Manor into the 2019 DPVA Designers’ Show House & Gardens. This 1926 home built by Dayton inventor/entrepreneur, George Leland, will be open to the public May 3-19, 2019.
An undertaking of this magnitude requires thousands of volunteer hours. We are looking for people to serve as “house docents” and boutique workers. As a house docent, you help direct visitors through the house, answer questions from material we provide and watch over the designers’ property. Workers in our Musique Boutique (“where visitors bring their Chopin Liszt!”) help visitors make their purchases. You will have the opportunity to tour the house yourself, of course. Significantly, we will provide stools so that you do not have to stand the entire shift. You will have free parking at Wegerzyn Gardens MetroPark, 1301 E Siebenthaler Ave. and shuttles will transport us to and from the home. Friends and family, including older teenagers, are welcome as volunteers.
There are many dates and times from which to choose. We encourage you to volunteer for at least two shifts, please. We need 5 house docents and 2 boutique workers for each shift, so why not get a group of friends together and cover an entire shift? Signup Genius will send a reminder of your shifts. Please note that the house is not wheelchair-accessible.
The entire Show House Committee greatly appreciates your continued support. As they say: we can’t do this without you! This fundraiser directly supports our numerous education programs, provides scholarships to deserving young musicians and gives financial support to our Dayton Philharmonic Orchestra.
