Holy Trinity Catholic Church
Once again this year Holy Trinity Catholic Church will participate in the rotating winter shelter run through the Georgetown Ministry Center. During two weeks between Christmas and New Years Day (12/15/19 - 12/29/19) 10 residents will sleep in McKenna Hall, joining with parishioners for meals and fellowship. As in years past, operating the shelter requires many caring, generous volunteers.
Dinner Volunteers (4 to 8 volunteers a night is best) - Dinner volunteers are responsible for providing a meal, which should include a main course, a salad or vegetable dish, and a starch dish. Dessert is welcome as well. The dinner should feed the 10 residents, one staff member, and the volunteers, who are expected to join the residents for the meal. Dinner is served at 7:30 PM. Volunteers are also expected to set up and clean up the meal. In addition to lasagna, popular main entrees include roast chicken, “make your own” tacos, chili, and beef stew. **When you signup for this slot, you are agreeing to provide all food and volunteers for this time.**
Mid-Day Meal Volunteer (4 to 8 volunteers is best) - On Christmas Day we will serve a mid-day meal rather than breakfast. Volunteers are responsible for a hot brunch-like meal and for setting up and cleaning up the meal. The meal should be available by 12:30 PM. **When you signup for this slot, you are agreeing to provide all food and volunteers for this time.**
Breakfast Volunteers (2 to 3 volunteers a morning is best) - This year we will be serving a hot breakfast on the weekends. Volunteers are responsible for providing a hot breakfast and for setting up and cleaning up the meal. Breakfast should be available by 6:15 AM. **When you signup for this slot, you are agreeing to provide all food and volunteers for this time.**
Coordinators are also needed to rotate through the 2 weeks. Ideal for someone that lives or works in the neighborhood and enjoys engaging with the GMC staff, Shelter guests, and parishioners providing the meal. For more details on this opportunity, contact Ashley Klick at [email protected]
