Summer Camp Registration 2020 (Virtual Camp)


All camps are virtual and include virtual zoom meetings with your camp counselor and a kit that you will pick up from Horizons Unlimited between 8am-12pm the Monday of your week of camp. If you cannot pick up the box during that time we will deliver the box to your doorstep if you live in Rowan-Salisbury school district. Campers can keep all kits except for the Bloxels kit which will be loaned to you for the duration of camp.
*Note: Some camps are four-day and some are five-day camps.

Game Design with Bloxels (Monday-Thursday) $25 per camper
Recommended for ages 8-12
*Bloxel kits will be loaned to campers for the week
Want to learn how to code video games using your iPad? Using a software called Bloxels you can create games that are fun and interactive. Bloxels allows you to customize every aspect of your game from characters to how they move in your game world! Make anything from Super Mario to your own unique creation! Participation in this camp will give you access to instructional videos and a physical Bloxels kit loaned to you for the week.

Cooking with Mr. Neil (Monday-Friday) $60 per camper
Recommended for ages 12-17
Cook virtually with Mr. Neil and learn techniques for using local ingredients in a new way.  This camp gives you all the ingredients to make a five-course meal, from salad to dessert, over the entire week. This course will include step-by-step instructional videos and a virtual meeting at 3pm each day to get ready for dinner! 

Grossology (Monday-Friday) $25 per camper
Recommended for ages 5-12 (If children are under age 8 they may need additional help from an adult or older sibling).
This camp will include a box of disgusting craft materials for you to make at home including “bird poop” paintings and “snot” slime! Your camp counselor, Mary, will meet with campers virtually at a time of day decided on by the group. You will enjoy team building, songs, and lessons with your fellow campers. You will learn about blood suckers, poop eaters, and the disgusting human body. It’s going to be four days of everything vile, nauseating, and GROSS!

Jr. Naturalist Camp (Monday-Thursday) $25 per camper
Recommended for ages 5-12 (If children are under age 8 they may need additional help from an adult or older sibling).
Campers will learn about wildlife tracks, how to nature journal, and so much more! Camp kits include your very own compass, wildlife track molds, professional journal, and a fun minute to win it game. Ms. Dixon will be doing daily check-ins to show you how to become a Jr. Naturalist and share what you have completed that day. 

Nature Art Camp (Monday-Thursday) $60 per camper
Recommended for ages 8-12
Campers will be provided with a camp kit to make various nature crafts including a bird house, bird feeder, and flower windchimes. Each day campers will learn about plants and animals and share their crafts virtually. 

Rocket Camp (Monday-Thursday) $40 per camper
Recommended for ages 8-13
Are you ready to launch ROCKETS? During this interactive camp, you will learn the math and history behind rockets before launching a new rocket each day of camp in your own backyard. Let the countdown begin and watch those rockets soar!

STEM Camp (Monday-Thursday) $35 per camper
Recommended for ages 11-14
Build and Destroy
Are you ready to build and destroy contraptions that you construct using your brilliant mind? Do you like to think out of the box and create things “your way”? Then the “Build and Destroy: Surviving the STEM Challenge Camp” is for you! In this camp, you will be constructing, designing, testing, and concluding your projects success, or demise, as you try and survive willingly against several tests!
Can You Survive?
Students will be in a survivor island type scenario. Each day’s quick challenge in the morning will give them a clue to what that day’s challenge will be. Day one of camp will be about finding water and cleaning it. Day 2 will pertain to hunting/trapping/fishing/foraging for and cooking food. Day 3 will be about finding shelter. Day 4 will be about getting rescued or finding civilization.
