2020 Bike MS: GMEG- Start/Finish Area

Volunteer Assignments at University of New England 

SATURDAY, August 1st and SUNDAY, August 2nd

Biddeford, ME

  • Final confirmations with full details will be sent to you 1-2 weeks prior to the  event

Please read the below Volunteer Consent Form prior to signing-up. If you are under 18, you must bring the form SIGNED BY PARENT OR GUARDIAN, with you to the event. 

Volunteers under 15 must be accompanied by a chaperone over the age of 21.

Cyclist Registration (5)

Volunteers welcome cyclist and provide participants with their rider packets using printed spreadsheets. Requirements: Excellent customer service skills, ability to read from a spreadsheet, to sit for a long period of time.

 

Volunteer Check-In (2)

Check-in fellow volunteers, ensure paperwork is turned in and volunteers receive a t-shirt and instructions for their assignment. Brief training will be provided prior to start of shift.

T-Shirt/Prize Table (4)

Volunteers set-up supplies and shirts by size and type, hand out shirts to participants, keep area tidy, provide excellent customer service!

Greeters/Directors (3)

Welcome & direct participants to appropriate areas, answer questions as needed. A brief training & FAQ sheet will be provided. Requirements: Sitting/standing for extended times, ability to follow instructions, customer service oriented & upbeat!

 

Mission / MS Awareness Table

Volunteers set-up the table with provided NMSS resources, materials, and SWAG. Volunteers encourage cyclists to sign the 'Why I ride' bibs and banner. Knowledge on Ms is preferred.

 

Gatorade/Water Station (2)

Set-up the area,refill gatorade and water coolers, keep area neat, ensure line is moving smoothly: Basic and safe food preparation and handling is required

 
6:00am - 4:00pm  

Rest Stop Supply Truck Driver (3)

This volunteer drives the supply truck or van from the start/finish area to the rest stop site(s) along to route to unload supplies at rest stop(s). Volunteer will then join Rest Stop Crew #2! *Driver’s safety training and MVR check required.

Dinner Tent Decorating (7)

Volunteers set-up the program and dinner tent with tables and chairs, and decorate the area following staff instructions.

Gatorade Water Station and Bag Check Floaters (4)

Float b/w the Gatorade Water Station (area set up,refill gatorade/water coolers, ensure water line is moving smoothly, basic and safe food prep) & Bag Check (welcome cyclists and use printed lists to mark their return) & monitor tidiness of game area!

This role is great for a flexible volunteer who is happy to have a few different roles! These volunteers will be assigned a role closer to the event date!
