Catholic Ministry at:
Huron Valley Women's Correctional Facility (at Ypsilanti, Bemis Road, near Platt Road)
We need volunteer ministers for two Sunday service shifts. We need at least two volunteer ministers per Catholic service to fill the Sunday shifts.
For Sunday morning services, arrive by:
- 9:00 AM so you can enter and be in the chapel area by 9:40AM and leave approximately by 10:50AM.
- 1:00 PM so you can enter and be in the chapel area by 1:40PM and leave approximately by 2:50PM.
Women and Men are invited to join in this ministry and remind offenders of the basic truth: they are a creation of God – and God does not make junk! Together we reach out in hope to the incarcerated. Centered in Christ providing worship services…, everything that happens in a church community outside, happens inside… providing Christian care and support we:
Affirm by our presence – show all that they are worthy of our time and attention.
Listen to the stories – without judging or admonishing.
Support each in prayer – in the struggles with surroundings. To be there is the best thing we can do for them!

Huron Valley Women's Correctional Facility, Ypsilanti, Bemis Road, east of Platt Road. Volunteer coordinator A LEIN Application Form will need to be prepared for Chaplain Tellas at HVCF. Getting applications approved and the prison's orientation training accomplished is a several week process. This sign-up below here would only work IF all ministers using it were already clear to enter, unfortunately it gives an impression that someone can pick a weekend and will be able to immediately participate. That is not the case. Getting applications approved and the prison's orientation training accomplished is a several week process.
