UU Allies for Racial Equity
Thank you for volunteering with the Allies for Racial Equity weARE@GA Team for UUA General Assembly in Spokane! It's a great way to meet awesome people, have amazing conversations, and live our mission to disrupt white supremacy.
If you haven't already, please complete the GA2019 Volunteer Signup first.
While all the slots show the ARE Booth (#341) as the "location", and that's definitely our hub at GA, volunteers might be asked to attend specific workshops or mini-assemblies, provide solidarity actions with People of Color, serve as mentors for other ARE members, and/or assist with requests from GA partners like the Commission on Institutional Change during their volunteer time.
Please sign up for more than one slot if you are able - and feel free to join us at the booth even if all slots are filled - the more, the merrier! We're expecting to have more folks than ever connecting with ARE this year, and there will always be enough going on to keep us all busy!
General Assembly is going to be pretty different this year. To get ready for our transformative work together, made a video orientation for ARE volunteers and folks who couldn’t attend our zoom sessions.
While weARE@GA: Join us for our off-grid events too! You can RSVP right here on this sign-up! As usual, we'll livestream what we can from our facebook page:
Lastly, there will be a short zoom debriefs on Wednesday - Sunday, 1p PDT primarily for offsite ARE members, but onsite participants are welcome to attend.
Attendees are also encouraged to familiarize themselves with the following prior to GA:
Tips for Countering Oppression and the ARE Accountability Guidelines
Tema Okun's analysis of White Supremacy Culture
If you have questions prior to, or after volunteering, please contact Laura or Carolina at theTeam@uuare.org We look forward to seeing you @GA! ARE
