Save Jane first launched in 2019 in Dallas, TX with the goal of spreading awareness about the crisis of child abuse. We are participating this year in what has become a national campaign to spread awareness about this critical issue closer to home.
On October 7, 2021 we will be in Downtown Roanoke on the Market, reading out loud each and every name and age of a child reported as abused last year in the jurisdictions that are served by Children's Trust. This is 15,277 children. As you know we can't reveal a child's real name, so we will substitute 'Jane Doe' and 'John Doe' for all 15,277 names. We want to remind our community that there are real children and real experiences behind each name and that Children's Trust will stand up and fight for them. We are asking the community, and those that represent the community, to stand with us. Please join us in reading these names.
