What’s for dinner? Here at Grassroots every meal provided by our friends in the community is a taste of home. Whether the dishes are prepared in your kitchen or one of our local restaurants it’s comfort food at its best – tasty, easy, and often creative. Rewards for those giving and receiving these meals can include pleasure, stress relief, nostalgia, and warm feelings. It’s a win-win for everyone - from the bottom of our hearts (and stomachs), thank you for your kindness and generosity!
PLEASE NOTE THAT OUT OF INCREASING HEALTH CONCERNS FOR OUR RESIDENTS WE ARE ASKING FOR DISHES OTHER THAN PASTA (ZITI, LASAGNA, ETC.). AFFORDABLE OPTIONS INCLUDE CHICKEN CASSEROLES, SLOPPY JOES, OR ITEMS FROM THE PDF BELOW FROM THE AMERICAN DIABETES ASSOCIATION. THANKS FOR YOUR UNDERSTANDING!
FYI - WE ARE SIGNING OFF ON SERVICE HOURS FOR STUDENTS WHO PREPARE AND DELIVER MEALS IF THEY PROVIDE THEIR OWN TIMESHEET.
Grassroots provides three meals daily for up to 50 shelter residents in our on-site commercial kitchen. We rely heavily on community support to feed our residents.
You can help by preparing a fully cooked meal or entrée to serve about 50 people. Meals can be prepared with your own ingredients or purchased. For example, rotisserie chickens are helpful to have on hand (we would need 12 to make a meal).
If frozen, you may deliver your meal in advance of your chosen date.
If you would like to support a local restaurant through carryout or delivery to Grassroots here is a link to a list of local restaurants, the cost can range from $150-$500:
We will also accept donations to purchase meals. A dinner meal that we prepare cost approximately $150. Donations can be made online at: http://grassroots.hocomojo.org/donate/
Or you can mail a check payable to 'GRASSROOTS'.
