Volunteers are needed to help prepare and share meals for the hungry and our outdoor living neighbors on Thursday nights.
Abraham's Tent Soup Kitchen is open! Each Thursday about 5 volunteers from each of the Muslim, Christian and Jewish communities (including children ages 14 years old and older, under the supervision of an adult) are needed to prepare and serve the dinner (supervised by Chef Agha Bilal).
We've learned that our opportunities for helping out should be staggered. The new 1:30 to 3:00 time slot is all about food prep, and our helpers need to be able to move large quantities of food from the parking lot to the kitchen. For the 3:00 to 4:30 slot, people will focus on food preparation, as well as setting the tables and serving. From 4:30 to 6:00, helpers will continue to serve and then clean up with the goal of finishing around 6 PM. All volunteers are invited to join in the meal!
If you've signed up already or would like to, could you please indicate in the comment section when you plan to arrive and leave? The minimum time is 90 minutes, but of course, you can also volunteer for the whole time, from 3:00 to 6:00!
Meet at Bethel Missionary Baptist Church, 390 Elm Avenue, Seaside. Thank you!
