As the demand has grown in this time of Covid-19, volunteers are especially needed to help prepare and distribute meals for our neighbors who are food insufficient. Each Thursday evening JCMUnited prepares, plates, and distributes 120 or so meals.
The opportunities for helping out are staggered. Under the supervision of our chef, Agha Bilal, the 1:30 to 4:00 time slot is all about food prep, and at least three helpers are needed to move large quantities of food from the parking lot to the kitchen. For the 4:00 to 6:00 time period, a team of two to three people will pack the meals, as well as distribute them to our guests. After dinner is over, the same team will clean up both the kitchen and the dining room with the goal of finishing around 6 PM.
Note: All volunteers MUST wear gloves and be masked with a double-layered cloth mask or a surgical mask at all times. Please bring your own. We will have gloves available. These safety precautions must be strictly followed since people will be working in tight quarters in the kitchen where social distancing is difficult.
We are now located at Epiphany Lutheran & Episcopal Church, 425 Carmel Avenue, Marina. Since we distribute meals outside, please be prepared to dress warmly!
