Pack 584 Volunteer Opportunities

The Cub Scout helps the Pack go! The Pack helps the Cub Scout grow! All families need to volunteer to help our Pack go. Please select one or two tasks that match your skills, interest, and time.

There are three categories of volunteer opportunities:

  1. Working mostly with adults,
  2. Working mostly with boys,
  3. Plan and execute a single annual activity.

Tasks are listed in this order below. Please decide which category fits for you and then look at the list of opportunities of that category. Then, sign up.

Available Slot

Committee Chair

Call and run Leadership Meetings monthly. Assist Cubmaster with Pack functions. Do annual rechartering. Assist Den Leaders at weekly Den Meetings. Work with Leadership Team to create budget. Maintain Pack roster.

Treasurer (2)

Keep the Pack bank account, make deposits, write checks. Report financials monthly at Leadership Meeting. Work with the Leadership Team to create the annual budget.

Tiger Den Leader

Plan and run weekly Den Meetings and Outings as required for the rank. Acquire supplies needed for Den Meetings. Track Requirements and Electives for each Scout. Communicate with Akelas on attendance, activities, and fulfillment. Make Scouting fun!

 

Tiger Assistant Den Leader

Assist the Den Leader at weekly Den Meetings and Outings, acquire supplies as requested by the Den Leader. May be asked to run a portion of the Den Meeting, such as the gathering activity or game. Proactively engage the boys in Den Activities.

 

Wolf Den Leader

Plan and run weekly Den Meetings and Outings as required for the rank. Acquire supplies needed for Den Meetings. Track Requirements and Electives for each Scout. Communicate with Akelas on attendance, activities, and fulfillment. Make Scouting fun!

Rocket Launch (6)

Sept. Order rockets and engines. Set up launch pad, stuff wadding, load engines, support boys chasing rockets, clean up. Need one person with electrical skills to make sure all the launch pads work two weeks before the launch and repair as needed.

Pack Picnic (6)

May. Purchase food, grill burgers/hot dogs, acquire plates, napkins, plasticware, etc. Bring tubs and fill with water to load water guns. Clean up.

Pinewood Derby (6)

January. Set up the track, help boys get their cars to the track for each race, clean up, learn the computer software, repair the track, etc. for the race. Especially need 1. computer, 2. electrical, and 3. woodworking skills.

Sign Up Night Team (2)

July-Sept. Work with the Leadership Team to plan and advertise our Join Night activity in August. Contact schools for recruiting, distribute flyers.

 

Advancement Team (2)

Communicate with Den Leaders, purchase awards (patches, belt loops, pin, ranks, etc.) at the Scout store once a month and give awards to each Den Leader before the Pack Meeting. Become familiar with Awards and where they go on the Scout uniform.

Committee Chair Assistant (2)

Participate in monthly Leadership meetings, assist with rechartering, assist at monthly Pack Meetings, assist Den Leaders with Den Meetings and Outings.

 

Membership Chairperson

Lead the effort to recruit new Scouts, work with Cubmaster & Committee Chair to plan and run at least one Join Event annually. Create flyers and distribute them to schools, churches, etc. Advertise Pack at school open houses, etc.

 

Pack Trainer

Learn about and promote training courses for Den and Pack Leaders, and parents. Review the DenverBoyScouts.org website for upcoming training opportunities and communicate this with the Leaders and parents. Track Leaders' training.

 

Webmaster

Maintain the Pack website, keep the site current with upcoming activities and calendar, post photos of past activities, provide contact information in a secure manner for Pack Leaders.

District Liaison

Attend District meetings every month to gather info at the District Level. Keep the Pack Leadership Team informed of BSA news.

 

Cubmaster

Plan and run the monthly Pack Meeting, oversee the Den outings and events, participate in monthly Leadership meetings, assist Den Leaders, work with Leadership Team to create a budget.

Work with Cubmaster in running Pack meetings and special events.

Popcorn Team (2)

Aug-Dec. Assist the Popcorn Kernel with ordering and distributing product. Book and assist at Show and Sells.

Popcorn Kernel

Work with the District in planning and running the annual popcorn fundraiser (Aug-Dec). Organizes the sale of popcorn from the District and Trails End. Tracks sales and prizes. Coordinate money with the Treasurer.

Cub Scout Day Camp Organizer

Investigate and identify appropriate summer Cub Scout Day Camp for the Pack to attend. Provide details to the Leadership Team and families, coordinate registrations, and attend the Day Camp.

 

Overnight Scout Camping Organizer (2)

Investigate and identify appropriate summer overnight camping for the Pack to attend. Provide details to the Leadership Team and families, coordinate registrations, coordinate and acquire supplies, plan and run activities during the campout, and attend.

 

Tailor/Seamstress (2)

Sew red patch vests for new Scouts in September/October. Sew patches for Scouts throughout the year.

Woodworking (2)

January. Has electric saws and knows how to use them safely. Work with boys in the woodcutting portion of making their Pinewood Derby race cars.

Camp Cards

Jan-May Fundraiser. Attend Camp Card Kick-off, Order and track Camp Card sales, Arrange for sales by Scouts or Show-and-Sells, return unsold cards and monies collected to Council on time, communicate with Leadership Team.

 

Scout Show (3)

April. Register our Pack for a booth at the annual Scout Show, create and staff a fun activity for the Scouts at our booth, promote attendance for families in our Pack, present a positive image of Scouting.

 

Pack Meeting Setup (2)

Prepare the reserved room for the pack meetings. This can include setting up tables, chars, flag stands etc.

 

Blue and Gold Banquet Committee (6)

Jan - Feb Plan for the food, recruit restaurants to donate, arrange pot luck, set up food at the banquet. Set up tables and chairs, cover with blue and yellow table covers, set up table decorations, set up table for food, etc. Pack up any leftover food,

 

Make Patch Vests

Sew patch vests for new Tiger scouts.

 

Campfire Volunteer (4)

Collect food items, assist in cooking/distributing hotdogs/cocoa/snacks. Assist in cleanup.
