Staff at Belmont Manor, a local nursing home, are caring for elderly people with covid-19. Like other healthcare workers, Belmont Manor staff are essential workers, responding to the covid-19 pandemic. Belmont Helps (Belmonthelps.org) spoke with staff at Belmont Manor and one way to help would be to donate snacks/drinks for their workers. Small snacks offer energy, a moment to rest, and let staff know we are thinking about them and appreciate them. Rather than having individual community members drop off snacks at the Manor, we have arranged for volunteers to collect snacks in Belmont and to deliver those donated snacks to the Manor once a week.
We are asking for about 5 people per week to donate snacks from the list below (choose one item from the list or multiple items). Once you sign up for a slot, you then drop off the snacks in the time period indicated on your sign up. Belmont Helps volunteers will then gather all donated stacks together and deliver to the Manor every Monday for the next few weeks.
The snacks requested are:
- individual snack packs of nuts
- individual snack packs of dried fruits (like apricots and cranberries)
- individuals snack packs of crackers, cookies, etc.
- granola bars/protein bars/cereal bars
- cans or individual plastic bottles of water, seltzer, tea
Unfortunately, the Manor cannot accept homemade snacks. All snacks must be store bought and individually packaged with ingredients on the individual packaging (for folks with allergies and food sensitivities). The major grocery stores, Target, Costco and BJs all have a variety of individually packaged snacks that you can purchase in person or online. (You may drop off in person or ship directly to Snack Drive (c/o McCubbin), 58 Pinehurst Road, Belmont, 02478).
Thank you for your help!
