Family Promise Volunteers
Serving is sacred and cherished here at Unity Spiritual Center Denver and we are so excited to have you join us and each other in this blessed show of community, love, and care for our neighbors.
Families in the Family Promise Program are housed on site at our Center during our host week. Below is a description of how the program works and the various ways that you can serve:
Our volunteers (you) sign-up to help move their cots and personal belongings in to our space on Sunday. Starting that evening, our volunteers drive the FP van from our Center to the FP day site to pick-up the families and bring them to our Center. Each night, a team of our volunteers provides & serves dinner for our guests. At approx. 8pm, a minimum of 2 volunteer overnight hosts arrive to spend the night here as a point of contact should our guests need anything.
The overnight host also sets out the breakfast and sack lunch items for our guests in the morning. The AM van driver arrives to transport our guests back to the FP day site, and the process repeats itself for the week. Usually on Thursday evening we need volunteers to help with childcare while their parents are participating in a training here at the Center or go out to do laundry.
On Saturday morning, we offer a warm breakfast to the guests since they do not have to leave quite as early for the day site. Finally, on Sunday morning our volunteers arrive at our Center early to help move the guest cots and belonging out and restore order to the classrooms for our Sunday morning classes, etc.
