The Heroes Wills Clinic provides simple wills and end-of-life planning documents to veterans, their spouses, and spouses of deceased veterans (400% or below the federal poverty line). We need attorney and attorney mentors for this clinic.
This clinic will be postponed from May 26 to the end of June, but we will begin matching attorneys with applicants at the beginning of June. TVAS and TLTV are partnering with Texas A&M School of Law and Legal Aid of NorthWest Texas to provide a safe wills clinic. The applicants will submit their documents ahead of time, then be matched with a pro bono volunteer who will draft the will and end of life planning documents.
But how will the documents be executed?
- If the pro bono volunteer would like to arrange for the will execution on their own, they are welcome to do that.
- If they would like the veteran to have the will executed as part of the clinic, we will have a will signing ceremony as soon as it is safe to do so.
We will be offering a free CLE webinar for anyone willing to draft at least one set of wills and end of life planning documents through this clinic. If this is your first time (or first time in a while) drafting a will, please request a mentor and sign up for the free CLE.
Email Kayla with any questions.
Thank you for volunteering!
