Plan to bring food for the monthly meal that Christ Episcopal Church (CEC) provides to 50 residents of the Grassroots Crisis Intervention Center Live-In facility. You'll find slots for items including Side Dishes (vegetable, potato, & other hearty sides such as baked beans), Desserts, and Supplementals such as fruits. Each of the dishes should feed 10-12 people and be brought hot, if appropriate, in disposable pans. No need to bring an entree; we serve chicken that is purchased by the Outreach Commission.
A coordinator meets the other volunteers as they drive into the Christ Church parking lot. Please arrive between 3:15 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. outside Old Brick. Please mask up and practice social distancing. Don't be late. The vehicle loaded with food must depart at 3:30 p.m. because the iterinary likely includes a stop at the Grassroots' DRC en route to Grassroots' Freetown Road facility.
Please tell us your item by noon on Sunday of the day before the meal to avoid your category falling short. When you sign up, please enter your email address whether or not you have your own SignUpGenius account. You'll receive a confirmation email that provides a handy link if your plans change and you need to withdraw the promised dish or supplemental item. Depending on how you log in, look for the wording, "Already signed up? You can change your sign up." and click there. Or if a SignUpGenius member, you can find your name in the template and click on the icon for Edit, Swap or Delete.
Both the DRC and the Live-In Facility have other needs for their pantries and welcome in-kind donations to be dropped off for delivery on the second Mondays (SEE MONTHLY LIST BELOW).
For questions, or to learn how to donate toward the cost of the chicken, please email [email protected].
