Hello ICD Parents!
We are currently seeking volunteers for the 2022-2023 school year. If you are interested in any of the many volunteer opportunities we have, please sign up below. We have provided information detailing each volunteer opportunity below. These amazing events will not be able to continue if volunteers are not available to help make them a success. For all of the opportunites listed below, volunteers must complete or have completed the Archdiocesan Prevent and Protect program prior to the event. **Please note: Room parents will be for the classroom your child is in for the 2022-2023 school year. Signing up does not guarantee a room parent position. We will not have official Room Parent assignments until after class lists are released in August 2022.
HSO Officer - President: This is a 2 year commitment with the first year being in the Vice President position. This position requires working closely with the school administration and the Vice President. This position oversees all meetings between the HSO Officers, the school administration, and the HSO Team, as well as the liaison between the HSO Officer Chairs and the school administration. Attendance at 2 monthly meetings is requested.
HSO Officer - Vice President: This is a 2 year commitment with the second year being in the President position. This position requires working closely with the HSO President and the school administration. The main duties of the Vice President is to oversee the Room Parents for PK-8th grades. Attendance at 2 monthly meetings is requested.
HSO Officer - Secretary: This is a 2 year commitment. The duties are to be in attendance at all meetings, and to be responsible for the recording and distributing of the minutes for each meeting. Attendance at monthly meetings is requested.
HSO Officer - Treasurer: This is a 2 year commitment. The duties are to be responsible financially for the HSO budget. This position will work closely with all HSO Officers, school administration, and HSO Officer chairs. Attendance at monthly meetings is requested.
HSO Officer - Communications Chair: This is a 2 year commitment. The Communication Chair manages the creation and distribution of all HSO-related media and marketing. This would include social media, newsletters, event flyers/emails, etc. All information created will be approved with the school administration and HSO President as appropriate. This position could be a co-chair position or have committee members to assist. Attendance at monthly meetings is also requested.
HSO Officer - Membership Chair: This is a 2 year commitment. The Membership Chair collaborates with key members of the HSO to coordinate volunteer assignments. This role is responsible for managing the volunteer SignUp Genius and works closely with the Support, Social, and Community Chairs to ensure all events have the volunteers needed. This position is also responsible for filtering information to and from Parent Reps and Teacher Reps. Attendance at monthly meetings is requested.
HSO Officer - Support Chair: This is a 2 year commitment. The Support Chair manages all events pertaining to the support of the teachers and staff. This includes Teacher/Staff Appreciation Week, BRAVO Days, Book Fair, Teacher Conference Meals, School Picture Day, Teacher Grants, etc. This position works closely with the Membership Chair and event committee chairs. Attendance at monthly meetings is requested.
HSO Officer - Social Chair: This is a 2 year commitment. The Social Chair manages all social events sponsored by the HSO. This includes Trunk or Treat, Pastries with Prairie Dogs, Field Day, Grandparents Day, etc. This position works closely with the Membership Chair and event committee chairs. Attendance at monthly meetings is requested.
HSO Officer - Community/Fundraising Chair: This is a 2 year commitment. The Community/Fundraising Chair manages all community relation events sponsored by the HSO, as well as any HSO Fundraising events. This includes Raise Craze, Speaker Series, Kisses Cuddles & Kleenex, Welcome Back Celebration, etc. This position works closely with the Membership Chair and event committee chairs. Attendance at monthly meetings is requested.
HSO Team - Parent Reps: The goal of these positions is to act as a liaison between the HSO and school parents. These volunteers help HSO events and activities remain relevant and age appropriate for all students. Representatives from preschool, lower school, and upper school are needed. Parent Reps are asked to join the HSO Officers and the school administration at a monthly Team Meeting.
Speaker Series Event Chair: This event chair is responsible for collaborating with the Principal to research, find, and schedule all speakers for the Speaker Series, as well as any lodging, meals, etc. for the speakers. This position works closely with the Community/Fundraising Chair and the HSO Treasurer.
BRAVO Committee: This committee plans, prepares, & executes the quarterly BRAVO days throughout the year. This position works closely with the Support Chair and the HSO Treasurer.
Kisses, Cuddles, & Kleenex Event Chair: This chair is responsible for the planning, purchasing, and prepping the bags for the incoming kindergarten families. The bags are distributed the same day as the Welcome Back Celebration in August. This position works closely with the Community/Fundraising Chair and the HSO Treasurer.
Grandparents Day Event Chair: This event chair is responsible for the planning, preparing, and execution of the Grandparents Day event in September. This event is for K-2nd grades. This position works closely with the Social Chair and the HSO Treasurer.
Raise Craze Fundraising Chair: This event chair is responsible for the planning, preparing, and execution of the Raise Craze Fundraiser in October. The planning for this event includes deciding any incentives and goals. This fundraiser is the main fundraiser for HSO and the proceeds help support the budget for all HSO events and activities. The earnings from this fundraiser also helps provide new equipment for the school. This position works closely with the Community/Fundraising Chair, the HSO Treasurer, and the school administration.
Trunk or Treat Event Chair: This event chair is responsible for the planning, preparing, and executing of the Trunk or Treat event in October. The planning for this event includes finding and scheduling food trucks, participation sign-ups, volunteers, set up, and clean up. This position works closely with the Social Chair and the Membership Chair.
Teacher Conference Day Event Chair: This event chair is responsible for the planning, preparing, and execution of Teacher Conference Day in October. This includes all snacks and meals for the day for all staff and teachers. This position works closely with the Support Chair and the HSO Treasurer.
Pastries with Prairie Dogs Event Chair: This event chair is responsible for the planning, preparing, and execution of the Pastries with Prairie Dogs event in March. This includes all pastries, drinks, set up, and clean up. This position works closely with the Social Chair and the HSO Treasurer.
Teacher/Staff Appreciation Week Event Chair: This event chair is responsible for the planning, preparing, and execution for the week of Teacher/Staff Appreciation Week. This includes planning, purchasing, and preparing for any food or gift items. This position works closely with the Support Chair and the HSO Treasurer.
Field Day Event Chair: This event chair is responsible for the planning, preparing, and execution of the Field Day event in May. This position leads the committee to plan the events for the day, including the games and snacks. This position works closely with the Membership Chair and the school administration.
Room Parents: These parents are responsible for the planning, preparing, and execution of the classroom parties, as well as any classroom gifts for Christmas or Teacher Appreciation Week/end of year. PK-4th grade room parents will plan Christmas and Valentine's Day Parties. 5th-8th grade room parents will plan Christmas Parties. These volunteers will work closely with the HSO Vice President.
Recess Volunteers: Recess volunteers monitor students during recess after each grade level lunch. These positions are needed to provide adiquate supervision while outside on the playground and blacktop areas, as well, as inside the classrooms during inclement weather.
Cafeteria Volunteer: These volunteers assist with monitoring the students while they eat lunch in the cafeteria during the school day. Duties include helping students remain focused on eating versus talking, passing out sliverware and napkins, and assisting students with opening food packaging.
Parent Substitue Classroom Aide: These volunteers will assist classroom teachers throughout the school day. Volunteers should be available the entire school day from 7:15 am - 3:15 pm. Volunteers may be contacted prior to the school day or up until 11:00 am on a given day. Substitute aides are paid $85 a day.
SCRIP: These volunteers assit with the sales and distribution of the SCRIP giftcards. SCRIP volunteers are needed for Wednesday afternoons, Saturday evening Mass, and Sunday daytime Masses.
As a friendly reminder, HSO needs the support of all of our school families. If we are unable to have an appropriate amount of volunteers for an event, there is a possibility that the event will not happen. We encourage you to sign up for any volunteer opportunities that are available.
