When? Monday nights at 7:00 PM EST (except holidays) Badge of Life Canada will be facilitating a virtual peer meeting via Zoom.
Who? If you are public safety personnel and wish to join please sign up with your email. Joining instructions will be dispersed after you have registered.
Cost? That's up to you but it is suggested that a weekly donation be made in the amount of $25.
Please donate what you can. This donation will help offset the ongoing costs associated with delivering such virtual psycho-educational sessions by a mental health professional.
Rules of engagement? Remember our PTSD peer support is a non-judgmental respectful group where we do not share the specific details of our trauma exposures ~but rather how those exposures may have impacted us individually. Sobriety is a must to attend, what’s said in group stays in group, be mindful your cameral is on and turn your mic off when not talking.
How to prepare for group? download FREE Zoom App, laptop or desktop works best. Use your first name only when you log into Zoom.
How do I introduce myself? Use your first name, provide your location and your first responder occupation (no rank please). You may provide the number of years you've been dealing with an OSI if you wish.
What if I have to leave early? Being we provide a safe container we ask that if you must leave early or are having IT issues please notify one of the peer facilitators for safety reasons.
Does BOLC's virtual peer meeting replace individual therapy? Not at all. We encourage all participants to have their own therapist especially since information will come out of our Monday night meetings that will require processing. These evenings should be viewed as an adjunct to therapy.
Can my partner attend? Every participant is required to be a first responder dealing with an OSI. If your partner is a first responder dealing with an OSI they are welcome. Please note this is not a couple's group and if your partner is attending you should consider logging on with seperate devices in order to attend the break out rooms individually.
Please Note: Badge of Life Canada is a charitable organization dedicated to providing our Mission and Programs in a volunteer capacity - with no staff or salaries - allowing for 100% of our charitable endeavours to be applied directly to our Mission & Programs. We exist on the 'GOODWILL' of others - through charitable donations via our website homepage.
Thank you and we look forward to your participation.
